WW II SA knife "not a replica"
 

Just helped my dad move and he gave me a box with different stuf i could have.

In it was this...

A SA knife

"solingen"
Carl eickhorn

Stamped WF

So its isued from westfallen division

Its unfortently not in mint condition, some of the handle are broken and the blade needs to be polished...

But a interesting piece....

You should get it valued or look on the internet for sites that sell this type of memorabilia.....there are many collectors out there.

How much?

What ever do, do not try to polish or restore it. You can totally kill the value by doing that. I can't count how many antiques have been trashed because some fool thought it would be a good idea to clean it up or refinish it.

Yeah...dont polish it!!! Leave that patina!!!

Wow, that third link you posted Jim shows $1000.00 for some of those knives.

That's right Chris, daggers, swords and bayonets etc. from that era can fetch a tidy sum.

Even if not considering selling for sentimental or whatever reason, it might be worth a valuation.

A week or so ago I read a post here on SS about the anniversary of the sinking of HMS Hood.

A short while ago (after the passing of my father) I brought a framed print home from my mothers of the Hood, signed by Ted Briggs, one of the three survivors.

This got me thinking and I Googled the artist Robert Taylor.

I soon discovered the link below was that of none other than my print.

Look at the link below and read of the condition (colours slightly faded) sold for £350. My father had it hung for years after I had left home so the condition is probably similar.

I knew I had purchased one or two others nearly thirty years back so I went up into the loft and it soon became quite apparent that the framed print was my fathers and not mine, I had originally purchased two.

I was absolutely awestruck to find the same HMS HOOD print but this time in absolutely mint condition, still in its cardboard delivery tube, plus the HMS Belfast print in identical condition:

Geez, it kind of sucks that there aren't many ties to history like that in my family tree, AFAIK. The only one I know of was my aunt's father (whom I never met), who saw action at Normandy and onward from there. There were plenty of old photographs on the wall at their home of he and some of the people he served with, and a tri-folded US flag in a hardwood display case. They must have lost someone to the war, though who that might have been is a mystery to me.

Anyway, that is a really awesome find L.T.

talked to a guy who collects these things and he also sais i shouldnt do anything with it...:salute:

So i just put it in my old gun case with a few "anti moist" packs and then decide later on what to do with it. It is pretty cool, but when your not a collector there will be some decision making later on....:know:
