anyone sucess hunting warships ?

anyone sucess hunting battleships?
that is with manual targeting ,and no map updates.

Have noticed the ones i have seen dont follow a clear path ,they move
in circles when not escorting merchants.. so was wondering if anyone
have an strategy or have seen a tutorial for that..

when the sound operator say .. warship ,medium speed.. for merchants have read that this means between 7-10knots.. and 11+ is fast. but how that works for warships?

As a u-boat captain I hunt merchant shipping. Killing a destroyer isn't going to help the war effort as much as sinking a tanker or cargo ship full of war materials. :DL

Those harbor escorts do tend to travel in odd angles at odd times and change speed constantly. I'm not sure how you'd compensate for that other than getting really close in.

Lets see the first and so far only warships I've sunk where on a raid into Scapa Flow. I got the HMS Nelson,2 troop transports, 1 large oil tanker, 1 cargo ship and 1 destoyer. The Nelson was sunk by a spread of four torpedos launched singulary and not in a salvo, first one hit in between No.1 and No.2 turrets, the second hit just aft of the bridge, third hit the engine compartments and the fourth hit directly under No.4 turret and the expolsion of the torpedo must have casued major damage to the ammo magazines as the impact of the torpedo was followed by a huge blast and fireball.

I guess their dificulty , makes the game more realistic as it was.. :)

Just was wondering if anyone was good againts them..
and about was "medium speed" means for a warship. for merchants is 7-10knots. usually.

was bit bored sinking merchants.. will try using salvos at close distance.. have a warship near my route and seems to detect me if i get at 2k distance.. there was another patroling a zone navigating in circles at all times ,kind of hard. :)

I raided scapa flow and sank the HMS Rodney with 5 hits to make sure it went down, and on a second raid into Scapa flow (in which I died) I was amazed to see the Rodney back afloat in its mooring, in perfect condition! :damn: A big wtf moment as that kind of damage doesn't get repaired in a matter of months... :nope:

Done the scapa flow raid but that apart I've sunk 8 other capital ships.

NW of Scotland I was sitting on station and get smoke on the horizon , I taker her down to Pscope depth and wait , turns out I'm 1000mts out from the path of 2 capital ships a spread of 4 torps fired. Torp 1 misses well in front of the 1st CS torps 2 and 3 hit it and sink it. The 4th misses astren, torp 1 that missed the 1st CS hit the 2nd one and left her dead in the water and it sunk slowly.

Got an aircraft carrier and CS the same way, going on the Norway op my watch spotted SOH and again I happened to be in the right place at the right time and bagged 2 more CS. I got 2 more in the Norway mission in there waters.

That said it was more a case of luck of happening to be in the right place at the right time

The campaign is fairly dynamic in SH5. From what I understand, if you hunt the Royal Navy north of Britain and between Iceland, you can allow the German Navy to break through into the Atlantic.

you can lure them in for a Dealy special ''Down the Throat" ™.. Of course it's suicide as one might argue, but if by any chances you upped the kurt guy's passive lower dud chance ability, you might conserve a few eels for the rest of the trip :shifty::yeah:

I was referring to DD/DE. BS usually panic if they see your stick up, usually flooring it @+ 26kt, so, I would make use of SLOW TIME to get an exact fix on them.. Afterall, "Stealth is the primary tactical advantage of a U-boat"
