Tropico 3 Absolute Power
The expansion came out the other day, I'm surprised no one on here has mentioned it. From the reviews I've seen it's gotten 4/5 stars, and it's only $19.99 on steam. I'm definitely purchasing next paycheck.
|
I definetly mentioned it somewhere, maybe the "bit of news" thread. Probably went unnoticed. :hmmm:
|
Well I downloaded it, I have to say it definitely fixes and makes the game better. But I can't say whether or not it's worth the 20 dollars I paid. That part is still up in the air.
|
Eh? More Tropico for 20 bucks; of course it's worth it. :O:
Nah, can't say really, haven't gotten it yet. |
I mean there are definite little touches that greatly improve the game, it's just the fact you're paying 20 dollars for 4-5 new buildings, 6 new edicts, a new campaign and a patch.
Although the one thing I do like is the fact you place road and if there's not any major buildings nearby it becomes dirt road. I guess another good thing is that it has multiplayer, but I've yet to try it. In general the game seems easier. It's funny I started my current Island as a communist paradise, I ended up going Capitalist in 1964 and I went from 20K exports to 90k Exports. :haha: Plus even though I was closer with Russia, the US was paying 6,700K compared to the 5,400K the USSR paid yearly. |
IIRC it has 10 new maps to play, same number as in the original. Doesn't seem like a bad price. :hmmm:
|
Even though I haven't played through them, from what I've read the new campaigns are pretty neat though.
The goals range from setting up a secret agency to find aliens, to trying to convince your populace that La chupacabra is real. I guess it's worth the price compared to the MW2 DLC which was 15 dollars for four maps. |

It's because Activision is evil, at least that Kotick is.

Looks like photoshop to me. No shadows on the two guys in the background. :hmmm:
|
There are no shadows in hell; it's to bright with all the infernos all around.

I believe they do it because:
1. They know there are people that don't care and will buy it either way. 2. I think it nets them the biggest money return in the long run. I mean think about it, let's say it costs hypothetically 2 dollars per person to download the file from there server. If it's priced at $5 and 100 people download they make 500 dollars, but lose 200 dollars. So it's only a 300 dollar profit. Now if 50 people buy it at 15 dollars they make 750, pay 100 servers and see a profit of $650 dollars. and 3. They are just greedy bastards. Think about it, if you buy a Rockstar DLC at 30 dollars(which is only 15 more dollars) you get five to six times the content. |
