Strange one with my ATI drivers , when I update all my game work bar FAR CRY 2

Any noticeable improvement with SH5? I still have stutters (and jelly water) on my ATI 4850.

Couldn't hurt, at least not permanently, to check out your settings and see if they match. |
You know, one thing that has helped me (could be totally different with a different setup) is decompressing the .dds files. Some things, like wakes, deckwaves, smoke, etc. would look stuttery or would cause a loss in frame rate. So I have been going all over to those things opening the files, and saving them uncompressed. And, I have noticed an improvement in frame rates, and a lot smoother animation on things that I do this to. I am using a ATI Radeon 4600 series btw.
It may not help you, but it really couldn't hurt anything. |

Thanks! |

After you have it installed and the proper plug-in installed, all you need to do is open the .dds file that you think is rendering poorly in game and save it again telling it not to compress. All .dds files come compressed stock. |

Thanks for this cool tip! :salute: |
Cool tip indeed. Going to try this. Why not, I have TONS of extra space?
|
You are more than welcome mates!:yeah:

Interesting.
Anyone can make this a mod or post a list of files can edited without problems ingame? :yep: Gruß. Echolot. |
I had to revert back to 10.4 because with 10.5 as soon as you move the overdrive settings the card stays at full power and doesnt idle .
|
No improvements for me. Both free camera and animations still stuttering, and of course jelly water.
Wondering why ati devs are not instrested to fix performances with this game.............but they still care about Crysis. Unbelievable :rotfl2: |
It may not be a driver issue and thus nothing can be fixed with updates. During SH4 the devs admitted they didn't like the lack of cooperation the (then pre amd) ati support provided and so ATI coding issues didn't get resolved. This attitude may have continued.
Amazing enough, graphics drivers aren't the only thing impacting frame rates. Any of your other drivers (including sound) can impact the CPU and thus graphics and everything else. If your puter meets or exceeds the optimum specs and the game specifically supports your card, you should take a look at the full range of typical culprits: 1) bios version. 2) miniport (nic, etc.) 3) sound. 4) controllers (keyboard, hotkeys, joystick, profilers) which may be sending spurious signals or supporting software buggy. 5) malware. The one program you cannot live without is probably the one killing you. 6) Protection software. Sometimes the "good guys" are worse than the "bad guys." 7) too many apps and/or background programs. 8) graphics settings set unrealistically high for your machine's performance (wishful thinking syndrome.) 9) memory (too slow or too little available causing too much disk cache usage. Disk cache size too small or set to dynamic causing too much resizing. 10) screen resolution and or refresh rate incompatibility. 11) partially failed hardware components (HDs typically.) 12) ATI Catalyst updates often work better when a full un-install has been performed first. 13) Tried setting the ATI control panel to defaults and checked results? |
:salute: Thank you very Much :DL for the info
