Identifying StarForce
Received a PM earlier asking the procedure for finding out if the SH3 disc contains StarForce or not.
IIRC it starts via 'Properties' etc. Can somebody post the protocol....it's been a few year since I needed to carry out such an investigation and I've long forgotten it now  |
Can't really help Jim, I know my old disk with SF had a key code on it, the new has nothing like that, certainly if you install it without running it SF doesn't install, you can then check the main install folder and if it has any files called protect if so it has SF!:hmmm: But then ofcourse you have purchased it! Wouldn't worry me, UBI released the "crack" or files to override SF protection IIRC!:yep:

to find out of it's already on your system:
control panel - system - hardware tab - device manager - view (select 'show hidden devices') browse list to find 'non plug & play drivers'. Start menu - administrative tools - computer management - device manager - view (select 'show hidden devices') browse list to find 'non plug & play drivers'. check for anything prefaced by 'Starforce Protection....' http://www.glop.org/starforce/detect.php As for finding it on the disk... check for a disk key on the disk itself? |
@Reece....No problem, I have both an original disc with SF (no problems there) :03: and a new Revival/Focus Media disc which comes already patched, no cd required and without SF.....I'd simply forgotten how to answer the PM wuery :yep:
@Jumpy....cheers mate, the query has been responded to and one individual is very happy they now know the disc they purchased appears to be SF free  |
