GWX install
Hi ya folks,
first off a big thankyou to jimbuna for sending me gwx on disc arrived safely today. I presently have stock sh3 and I'm progressing in my career and I really want to try gwx but I'd still like to see how far I can get with my existing career and crew, can I install a seperate sh3 and apply gwx to that and run them seperate for the time being until I'm all done with the stock version. If its possible can someone just give a quick insight how to go about it so as not to get any clashes. Thanks alot Bert. |
Yes, it can be done;
I assume you have SH3 v1.4b, starforce free. If you have modified you original install of SH3 in any way, you need to reinstall it If you haven't modified your SH3 install, copy the SilentHunterIII folder to a DVD and save it. Rename your installed folder "ubisoft_old" Make a new folder "Ubisoft" and copy the SilentHunterIII folder into it. Install GWX. AND RENAME THE SILENTHUNTERIII FOLDER TO GWX. You cannot have two folders in the Ubisoft folder with the same name. In your new install of Ubisoft/SilentHunterIII, install MultiSH3, (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1869) and run it (instructions in the readme) and name the My Documents folder GWX Copy the SilentHunterIII folder into the new Ubisoft folder and delete the folder "Ubisoft_old" Make a copy of the SH3.exe shortcut and install it on your desk top; you will now have two exe shortcuts "SH3" and "SH3GWX." READ THE GWX MANUAL, AND THEN REREAD IT. Install SH3Cmdr for both installs READ THE README FOR SH3CMDR AND JSGME, AND THEN REREAD THEM. "SINK 'EM ALL" (Jimbuna) |

@Irish...I've also included the GWX3.0 CFG for Commander on the disc. Back to you :DL |
Thanks for the info, I'll give it a go

The file structure should be: C://Ubisoft/GWX/Data... and C://Ubisoft/SH3/Data... Or, if you prefer, C://Ubisoft/GWX/SilentHunterIII/Data... and C://Ubisoft/SH3/SilentJunterIII/Data... |
