688 Attack Sub
Who played it? and how did it plant the addiction that is subsimming, all those years ago!
Tbh Pro game :ping: http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:I...b_Coverart.jpg http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:2..._sub-48946.png http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:9..._38791_2_3.jpg I loved my russians that spoke russian and did everything the russian way, cmon you reds! |
I played it and I loved the game feel of launching missiles and than disappearing not trying to be detected. Also knowing that attack subs were after you as well.

I played and still have it in the attic along with the cloth 688 splash patch that came in the box:up:
The first subsim I played was Silent service on the CBM64 (tape version) I then upgraded to a 1541 Disk drive and bought the disk version. My favourite subsim to date is Aces of the Deep, my only gripe being that you did not get awarded tonnage for warships. I never understood why they did that. I may reinstall it using DosBox just for a trip down Memory lane. Cheers Garion |
While I didn't play 688, I my first PC sub sim was 688(I) Hunter Killer, I am supposing it was the sequel.
It took me forever to understand what I was supposed to do, the admiral or whatever he was during the debrief was always pissed at me lol. So much so in fact that I just assumed that is how they always went. Then I started doing things right and suddenly he's slapping me on the back and giving me praise. Needless to say it was a wtf moment but I enjoyed that game a great deal. I also liked Sub Command the "sequel" to that game as well. |
Yeah....:yeah: it was one of the first games that put me on the sub warfare path. I had a Sega Megadrive console and they used to hire the game out at the local video store....hehe...got a few late fees on that one...:har:
