Um CD Key? Had to rebuild my machine
For a reason unrelated to SH5 I ended up having to rebuild my machine...so I decided to go to Windows 7.
After getting that up and running I installed SH5, applied the patch and was the promptly asked for the CD key. After entering the code I was informed that the key had been used. Correct. BY ME. The guy who bought the game and who wants to put it back on the machine I had it installed on previously. What do I do? Write the company? lol |
Hmmmm... that's odd. I was under the impression that OSP allowed a user to install it on as many PCs as he wanted. That's Ubisoft's official take, at least. So I'm really surprised that it's not allowing the key.
Unfortunately, any and all tech advice could be viewed as circumventing copyright protection, so I won't give any. Instead, I'd refer you to Ubisoft. First, I'd refer you to http://www.ubi.com/us/support/ for support. If you click on the FAQ links, there's a tab where you can access their "Ask a Question" service... you'll need to log in. Second, their tech support number appears to be (919)460-9778, open Monday through Friday 9AM - 9PM. It (and other phone numbers) can be found at http://www.ubi.com/US/Support/InternationalSupport.aspx . Good luck. |
the same thing happen to me about an hour ago.I e-mailed them[ which is same as yelling down a well] they said the will answer in one buiness day. we shall see.

I reinstalled SH5 3 times so far and never had any problems. After install I just click on launcher where I enter my Uplay username and pass.. and that's it.
Hard to understand why you ended up at the registration page... you don't need to register every time you install the game, just fill the user/pass fields in the game launcher and your good to go. |
I have installed 3 times. 1 for Win7 Ult RC1. 1 for the reinstallation to Win7 Home and 1 at my brother in laws PC. Never had any problems.....strange that it occurs for you

Have it running on 3 differnet machines - No problems, never asked for CD key on 2nd or 3rd machine. Just entered my username and password, logged on no problems.
If your running on one machine and fire up the game on another PC its logs you out of the first one. :) |
I had the exact same problem, and posted up some notes in another subsim thread here.
My error was to confuse *online* (ubi.com) accounts when I did the re-install. First I created a *new* account (total mistake), and then slightly bizarrely used what I thought was the correct online ubi.com account but had in fact unwittingly created two of those when I'd installed the game in thefirst place. The key fact (pun intended) is you should *NOT* be prompted for your CD-KEY on a re-install. When the Ubisoft Games Launcher prompts for your online account and password, if the password is wrong (or account doesn't exist) then the Launcher will tell you immediately so I assume you are passing this stage. With a correctly authenticated Ubi.com account, the Launcher will check the *online account* has a valid SH5 licence (from a CD-key typed in when you did the first install) and will proceed with the SH5 launch without prompting for the key. So this points to the Ubisoft account you are using does not have a SH5 key registered. The only people that can look this up are Ubisoft support - give them your online account name and password, and they will ask you to confirm some other personal details. They will then confirm that account doesn't have SH5 registered (probably). At that point you can tell them the CD-KEY and they can do a search and see which online Ubi.com account *does* have that key registered, and with a bit of luck this is still an account you have access to. In my case they were able to send a reset-password to the email address associated with that account and I could still access that. Let us know how it goes. Bamzors p.s. I'm guessing from this that all SH5 DVD's are actually identical - it's the cd-key printed on the back of the manual that's the only unique thing. |
bamzors hit it right. The game was hooked to an e-mail address long gone that i used to download u-boat missons. the tech at ubisoft was really good.I was surprised. anyway all straighten out. thanks for the heads up
