If you are right wing, you are a terrorist...

... Or at least thats what Mayor Bloomberg and Congressman Nadler seem to think.

Mayor Bloomberg says of the time square car bombing attempt

"This would be, exactly that... somebody who is... home grown, maybe a mentally deranged person or somebody with a political agenda that doesnt like the health care bill."

New York Congressman Gerald Nadler says of the time square bombing attempt...

"Whether the guy who did this, or the people who did this, were with some islamic terror group or whether they were some right wing nut group, or whether they were by themselves in one since it doesnt matter because they are all equally as dangerous."

Ok... so now the conservative, right wing political parties are equally as dangerous as terrorists? :nope:

these men are disgusting. I have never heard a right wing congressman or mayor come out and say "Well Left wing people probably attacked the world trade center because they are equally as dangerous as islamic extremest"

positively disgusting

I heard some talking head newswomen lamenting the fact that the times square bomber was not in fact a right wing nut job. :o

I consider myself a moderate conservative and have always found these equations offensive also. There are extremists on both sides, it is usually the moderates who come up with the practical solutions.

Then you get into the definition of what is the "right" or the "left" which varies from country to country.

President Obama is considered "left wing" or a "socialist" by many americans, but his policies/ideas are perfectly aligned with those of our Conservative Party which is considered "right wing" by Canadian standards...:ping:

Ah, thank you Freiwillige.

I guess that wasn't what I expected, she's trying to point out that we should be concerned about homegrown terrorism. Her lament was about what she sees as an overuse of stereotype in general. :DL

Personally, I'd prefer that they think of us as being even more dangerous than terrorists. Our government is supposed to fear the citizenry. The whole idea of government by consent revolves around the idea that we will use violence against our own state, if need be.

The attempt to lump parts of the citizenry in with terrorists tells me that they do not fear us as much as they should. It tells me that they think they can get away with using labels and propaganda on their own people for political purposes. It tells me that our nation has become too complacent and trusting of its government.

And unfortunately it has been that way for a few years now sad to say.

Yup. The militarization of the police is another sign of trouble.

If you're right wing you're a terrorist fascist, and if you're left wing you're a communist subversive.

What happens if you're center? :hmmm:
