Halo: Reach Beta

Anyone else getting in on this? Now I know this is Subsim, but surely I can't be the only one who likes to duke it out with a console? ;)

I've only played a couple rounds so far, but I have to say it's been quite decently fun.

I have to agree with Dowly on the matter.

Eh, suit yourself. Call me a fanboy, but I've always enjoyed the series :)

I've always been a Half Life fan myself.

Never really liked how overhyped Halo was. I do admit the first game was good, but the next two were just more of the same. ODST and Wars just seemed like spin offs to me.

Never played the first Half-Life, but I'm going through the second and its episodes. And I agree, the last few Halo games were hyped up and loaded with praise, and I was expecting more from ODST's campaign. (I thought they'd have something more epic, but instead we get to run around an empty city for 6 hours :shifty:)

The first Half life is a classic. If you get the chance to play it, you should. Especially since it's only like 4 dollars on steam. :haha: The two expansions of sorts, although don't really tie into the Half Life 2 story, are also great.

If you have Half Life 2 on the computer, there is Half Life Source, which is pretty much Half Life 1 with the water from Half Life 2. Although there is a full conversion mod being made remaking the whole game with better graphics, and physics.

There is no estimated release for it though. Its been in progress for atleast 4 years.

My main problem with Halo is its very like Half Life in the following ways:
  • Man in Armor suit that has a female voice. The main difference being the suit in Halo actually has a personality.
  • In the first games you fight one group of aliens, who end up helping you in the second game(or was it the third game where the Covenant help?)
  • They both have a race of aliens that make zombies, who attack everyone.
There was more but I forgot. :haha: If you do play through Half life 2 and the episodes, make sure to play Portal, it'll tie into episode 2 and 3 in a way.

Don't really enjoy Halo as much as I used to. Not going to pick it up but if anyone grabs it from my group of friends I'll give it a shot in mp with them.

Nothing wrong with Halo, if I had Halo ODST then I would be in on the Reach Beta.
