How to set up Multiplayer?
Hi there,
I know for MP that I need to open up ports, etc. But how do I do this? I'm not really computer savvy so if someone could explain step by step how to find, open and all that stuff for ports so I can play Multiplayer? |
Are you trying to host a game or just join someone elses?
|
I can host, but whenever I try to Join, there are no games TO join. The list is always empty, no matter how many times I click refresh
|
So you have had others join your game?
You may be able to open a lobby but if your being a router/firewall and your ports are not configured properly they will not be able to join - the server will show 999 latency when this is the case.... If there are no rooms showing that means there is nobody with an open lobby to join. That doesn't mean there is not games in progress. The Ubi server only shows which lobbies on other computers are open. Once you load a game up and playing with your friends you are 100% off the Ubi network and you are being served by the host. This is why no one ever sees games in progress. The trick to playing MP is to make a few friends or join a site that "tries" to organize games. Feel free to add me up on skype, I play MP exclusively (that goes for everyone looking to play some MP). |
No I have not had anyone join either :(
OK sounds good.. when does the MP community usually play? |
I'll play right now if you like.
As for when the MP community plays, well I guess that depends on which one your talking about. I can speak for my Wolfpack only, we play whenever we can ;] Mostly weekends though. Its just me tonight, the dog, no gf and a bottle of Jaggy so I am down for a game for sure ;] |
haha sounds good, I will try soon. If I have problems then I will contact you about ports, etc
|
Ports are quite simple.
First is to know whether your using a router or firewall. If your using a router you need to know which ip to load the settings page. For instance, I use a LINKSYS router so the settings page is: http://192.168.1.1/ Once there I look for the Applications and Gaming page and add these ports: Port# Protocol 80 Both (TCP + UDP) 3074 Both 3075-3174 UDP 19000-19002 Both You see settings like this: Port Range Application Start End Protocol IP Address Enabl Application: Name it SH5 or w/e you like Start: 80 End: 80 Protocol: Both IP address: 192.168.1.2 (or whatever your LOCAL IP address is) Enable: checked, enables the port to listen and send data through it Do this for the rest above. Add them exactly as shown and do not set both unless specified. Save those settings and you should be good to go, hosting or playing. |
I am not sure what you mean about router and firewall? My firewall is set to allow gaming.. but i do not know how to get to my port etc page (the numbers and periods sequence..)
|
So you do not use a router, you go from your Cable/DSL modem directly into your PC?
|
I have a Modem I believe, Hi speed Internet
|
Are you running Windows firewall?
|
Yes, I have Windows Firewall running, and I have found the way to the D-Link site.. now all I have to do is find out my username/pass :s..
|
its gonna be default
username: admin pass: admin |
unfortunately it is no longer the default name/pass
Also, it appears I do not have skype.. Do you guys use Vent? |
