Selling my SH5 (UK)

I hope this isnt against forum rules?

I am selling my copy of SH5, i just dont have time to play it, and perhaps someone who was cautious about buying it, will take a chance on it being a bit cheaper.

Its on ebay right now

Is the Serial No not tied to you Ubi logon ? So if anyone tries to register it to there ubi logon it won't work ??

I thought I read that somewhere , not so much about pirate copies , more to do with stopping Re-Sale of the game.

It is linked to your acount, so nobody can registred it.
You have to give away your acount at UBI to i think

Unfortunately you cannot sell software that employ some kind of registering scheme.

What most people here on these forums failed to grapsp is that DRM is aimed mainly at killing the legitimate second hand market as well as discourage the casual pirates in the process.

Even the most sophisticate copy protection scheme will get eventually cracked. But the second hand market is a pain in the ass of publishers. Unfortunately for them, several courts around the world ruled that selling a book, a vinyl or CD (just to name a few examples of content which rest on some form of phisical media) is perfectly legitimate and so is selling an used piece of software.

The moment you insert some kind of mandatory registration tied to an account, selling the media becomes useless, even if there's no law preventing you to do so. In other words, the consumers get shafted once again.

well, its no big deal giving away my ubi account either, i mean, it doesnt do much anyway.

Ragtag 04-29-10 08:58 AM

Jesus, he's just trying to sell it with the account. No need to bomb the crap out of him.

I retract my comment for being too realistic for some people.

It's the same procedure as selling ur account in any mmo game. I'm not sure if selling SH5 is covered in the EULA, I mean if is allowed to sell ur account. If not, there is a risk to be scamed as the seller can get back his account after he got paid even if he give away his account details. In WoW this is a really risky business and you have to be really careful from who and from where to buy a new account.

Anyway, this is not WoW and a high interest nor expensive game, so I really don't see any interest for scams.

According to the EULA, which everyone obviously reads, your auction is illegal.
LE: Oh, and they also own your server stored saved games. Quite an entertining read really.

" To create or distribute unauthorised levels and/or scenarios" :hmmm:

Well, if one was to take that literally, or out of context.....
Modders, anyone? Creating levels and/or scenarios :O:

Obviously no dramas, i know that. I'm being pedantic.

i think they are just trying to give advice, with some facts, i'm sure they are not insinuating anything to do with your product on ebay

rundeepa 04-29-10 09:50 AM

well im sorry if i misinterpreted it in some way, it just seemed i should expect a lawyer knocking on the door any time now.

but it is cheap at that price, so, please someone buy it :)

SKLR 04-29-10 09:53 AM

I was just saying careful with ebay, maybe try to pass it on to a friend, you know...discreetly.

SabreHawk 04-29-10 10:04 AM

Your not getting it Rundeepa, what you are wanting to do is illegal plain and simple.
What you are asking someone else to do, is buy an unusable product that you are selling illegally.

You aggreed to the EULA when you registered SH5 and created the account. And now you are essentially saying you dont aggree with it.
