IXB range in GWX

Hello,

In my current campaign with GWX I just had amassed enough renown to change my VIIC for a IXB. However, there's something odd with the ship. When I ask the navigator to calc max range, it's no more than about 8000 kms when doing 6 knots. This in calm waters.

No other mods should be interfering with it, so what can it be, since the VIIC had a much longer max range.

welcome aboard! :salute:

the range of the type IX should be around 40,000km when travelling at ahead 1/3 (=6-8knots depending on wheather conditions)

Try the same calculation while doing 8 - 9kts. ;) You need to find the optimum speed vs range.

Just like driving a car, 15mph with a full tank won't get you very far, neither will 150mph on a full tank BUT doing 70mph will.

Or, consider that if you are using SH3 Commander you may have been sabotaged or developed a malfunction.

Edit - Opps, Manners. Welcome to Subsim. :)

One of many malfunctions that you may encounter.
Malfunctions will screw up your range occasionally, if you're using SH3Commander. That one seems to occur at inconvienent times-like when you've spent a weeks sailing to a distant patrol area and youget a 50% fuel remaining message. WTH!

It's always a good idea to check things now and then as you're cruising along.

:)

Welcome aboard! :salute:

Funny thing, it was probably a malfunction from SH3Commander. The first one I've had during 16 patrols.
