Fooling With GE, Where can I get Balkon Gerat
 

So looking through with Goblin Editor, I found some nifty things.

For one, every U-boat has a "supposedly" (i didnt see any differences) different Torpedo Room Aft (Room_TRA). ie: the Electrical Room.

Also, putting together just the submarine interior has led me to find new nifty things such as photos, portraits and how the actual thing is built.

Finally, by looking into the C:/Ubisoft/SilentHunter5/data/Objects/Uboot_Sensors.GR2 Folder with GE, it shows a list of all sensors available for the U-boat.

One, well two of these, caught my eye. They are the Balkon Gerat and Balkon Gerat type 9. Where the hell can i get these monsters:hmmm: Any ideas on how I can mod these onto my boat? Also, be aware that the snorkel (as well as its 'raise' and 'lower' animation) is ingame.


One last question is, how can I change the different portraits and photos throughout the sub?

For instance, in the fore Torpedo room, immediately upon entering the room there is a portrait of a girl as well as a photo of the crew.

What I'd like to change this to a different portrait, say of a wife or girlfriend, and the photo of the crew say to a team or group I am a part of.. how do I do this? I couldn't decipher the GE settings of the file..

no need, they're both modeled (the Balkon Gerat and the B.G Type 9)

uboat.net wont let me access at the mo but from memory the Balkon Gerat is available near the end of 1943
XXI were equipped as standard but very few VII got them

There is obviously a file somewhere ingame where you can alter the dates I should imagine

Yes I was reading last night on how the XXIs were fitted with them and it influenced American Submarine Design Philosophy afterwards, in the sense they wanted better sonars on quieter subs.

My question simply is where are the files so I can see when (or if) i can get this beauty lol.. I'm tired of my crappy Hydrophones :P I'm assuming the Balkon Gerat is not a hydrophone but a sonar set capable of ranging pings? If there is one thing I miss most about the fleet subs is the active sonar for underwater sonar only attacks..

Check the upc files.
It's probably in there somewhere.

tried finding it in the equiptment.upc file and the sensors.upc file and there is nothing.

On a side note, why the hell is flotilla.upc talking about Manila and IntelligenceUnits.upc about Yamato? This is a German Submarine sim no?

Going into the Tonnage Aces file it is all about AMERICANS! WTH..

aah so I misread the UPC Data file..

UPCDataGE means Germany UPC Data whilst UPCData is American.. wow I'm dense.. So does the presence of American Data signal the possibility of an add-on??

Anyways.. what do I alter to change the earliest date for this equipment?

The UPCData first appeared in SH4
The UPCDataGE in the UBM add on

As most of SH3 and 4 are left in the files it could be just that
Or
Planning ahead for expansion to the Pacific
