Taking Picture/Video Requests for U-505

Attention awesome Modders!!

I just bought tickets for the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry--the museum that serves as the resting place for captured U-505. I was pleasantly surprised to find out they are offering a "behind the scenes" special private tour the day I'm going (extra cost of course!). Instead of the normal 15 minute tour--this tour lasts 2 1/2 hours!!!!! Photography is allowed--so I'm borrowing a nice SLR digital camera, and possibly an HD camcorder.

If anyone wants me to take pics/video of a specific part of the boat, or specific instrument panel, etc.--let me know by posting below. I'm pretty sure it's a type IX boat--but have to verify.

Have they got the TDC still Intact, would like some closeups of the dials if possible for my UI Mod.
Aslo if you could get close up's of the Periscope, would be great. :yeah:

They don't usually let you take pictures of the boat inside. Must be new rules which is nice ;]

The TDC is in the conning tower, off limits.

Its a type IXC for clarification.

HA! When I went they gave me and my bud a free private tour at the end of the day.

I will be back in Chicago May 21 to 24 ;]

Also, don't want to burst the your bubble but, its gonna be a 2.5 hour tour of the exhibit and the boat, meaning you wont be on the boat for the whole time. The exhibit itself is huge so It will take 2 hours to walk you through all that and maybe give ya 30 mins on the boat.

Where did you read they let you take pictures of the boat inside?

Couldn't find any mention of that. They told us they would not allow photography because they feared we would sell or use the pics to make money some how lol.

They're used to be an online virtual tour similar to this one. but they took it down some years ago, and i haven't been able to find it since. I guess they figured it would cut into ticket sales or something.

That's very cool link. I wish some day developers could make games in 3D which would look like that. Talking about photorealistic experience... :yeah:

I live near to Chicago and have never been to any of the attractions down there :o

I drove their a few years ago with a bud of mine. Went for U-505 of course. We had a blast. One of the best cities for attractions and history, great baseball too. And the lake-shore is absolutely gorgeous.

Shot taken of the lake shore standing in front of the Aquarium.

I am heading back with my brothers in May.

I'm a private pilot (airplane and helicopter) and you should see the skyline at night from over the water in the air.....awesome
