Favorite submarine music

Ahoy fellow sub-captains! How about we take a break from sinking ships and listen to some great music?

The rules of this thread goes like this:

- You have to post one piece of music.

- You have to rate the above posters song.

- Enjoy the music!

- The music must have something to do with Submarines or Navalcombat. Doesnt matter if its from movies or games.

Silent Hunter 4 - Stalker 2

8/10 - brings back good memories. Atmospheric, tense...gives you the feeling that something may pop up at any moment. A little repetitive, but it will be forever burned into my brain as the SH4 song.

Here's my contribution:

Craig Armstrong - Hanging (it was recently brought to my attention by Mr. jimbuna that this is NOT "Escape" as I had believed it was for so long. "Escape" begins at 4:18 on this track)

I ended up buying this album's MP3s from Amazon the other night finally. Very good stuff, only $10 too instead of the $40 or so a CD would have cost.

Hate to be greedy and post another but this is one of my favourite pieces of music and I think it would work really well with SH and Subs in general

5/10 purely because i have a different music taste!

My track is Run Silent Run Deep by Raven. It has been with me through Aces of the Deep, Silent Hunter 1,2,3,4 and now 5.

I'd love to see someone put an in-game video to it. I,ve always wanted to do it but never had the time.

Let's get realistic for a bit:

U-Bootleid
http://ingeb.org/refer/ubootlie.MP3

Englandleid:

Ich hatte einen komeraden:
http://www.ingeb.org/Lieder/IchHattE.html

It's a long way to Tipparary
http://www.uboat.net/special/songs/files/tipperar.wav

I attend (J'attendrai) from Das Boot
http://www.uboat.net/special/songs/files/jattendr.mp3

or just go to u-boot.net's song page:
http://www.uboat.net/special/songs/#das

Raptor 04-16-10 10:04 PM

ok, so it's not subs, but almost everyone likes this one:

"Panzerleid" - from the 1965 film, "The Battle of the Bulge" with Robert Shaw as Öberst Martin Hessler and Hans Blech as poor Corporal Conrad.
http://www.ingeb.org/Lieder/obssturm.mid

to get the words (both German and English) so you can sing along:
http://www.ingeb.org/Lieder/obssturm.html

Ob's stürmt oder schneit,
Ob die Sonne uns lacht,
Der Tag glühend heiß
Oder eiskalt die Nacht.
Bestaubt sind die Gesichter,
Doch froh ist unser Sinn,
Ist unser Sinn;
Es braust unser Panzer
Im Sturmwind dahin.

and here's the film clip from youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSLHasN9UXQ

Raptor 04-16-10 10:10 PM

and from "The Enemy Below", the underwater singing as Curdt Jurgens and Robert Mitchum square off. Also starring David Hedison and Theodore Bikel as the opposing executive officers. Still THE classic American sub movie. Not as realistic as Das Boot but miles ahead of garbage like U-721.

7/10 easily listened too and very appropriate in the Pacific.

In my humble opinion soundtracks in games in the last few years are as good if not better than most big boxoffice films.
10/10 for this!

Now... My little contribution is...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kQNFyEI2rs

Nothing to do with subs (as far as I know) but I love Floyd... and it has a ping...ping...ping...

The song is from the movie soundtrack, "Plunkett & Macleane" starring Liv Tyler and "Hanging" is the song rightly named. I never saw the movie but I'm sure there must be a point where one of the characters is to be hung (the movie is about thieves in 19th century England). The song "Escape" is likely about their escape after freeing the man to be hung from jail.

I bought the CD after hearing this song in GWX. I was surprised when it was replaced in later releases. It seems perfect for Uboat sims.
