Wireless and Wired....
Ok - I use a WPN824 v3 - have 2 machines wired and one wireless. However, I need to start capturing packets from the wireless machine. No other machine in the network has a wireless card. Because the wired ports are switched, it is logical to assume that the wireless side isn't going to act as a hub and allow packet captures to the wired side.
I know I could put a hub between the router and modem and do the capture there with a wire - but I don't have a machine free to do it with, so that isn't a feasible option. Only think I can think of to do here is put a wireless card in my desktop and run the capture off that. Not a solution I like, so I am open to other suggestions. Is there a way for a wired box to get those packets at the pass (router)? Also - anyone that can point me to a free packet capture/scanner that isn't quirky as heck for wireless captures would be much appreciated. |
