Ubisoft Shares Drop!
Is Ubisoft's strategy of DRMing up more business a success?
Shareholders must be aware of the customer resistance and are dumping Ubisoft. 2009 average share price was euros 0.87 Today's price is euros 0.47 a 50% drop. Pretty dramatic results after DRMing SH5, AC2 and Settlers. It would appear that their DRM is turning into a Dive of Doom. Moo! Ref:UBISOFT ENTERTAINMENT (UBI:FP): Earnings Estimates - BusinessWeek |

Dident read either account but just wanted to mention that the economy.. globally... is kind of weak right now. :03:

Hi Brag.... I think you may have the wrong end of the stick here. The previous figures are accurate and the 2010 figure is estimated but if you look at the base figure, the share price is actually 10.90 euros. The figures you are looking at are the profit per share rather than the actual price........Easy mistake to make dude:up:
It is also worth noting that the 2010 estimate is just that, an estimate and will no doubt have taken into account the current economic downturn |

Thanks for the explanation. :salute: |

After the Q4 report, the race is on... And will see how investors like this. But keep in mind that in their latest sales report 2008/9 the PC Market was but some 8% of total revenue. So even if the DRM cut away the whole PC customers, they could just withdraw from that segment (for any possible reason, probably piracy will be pulled out of the coffin again) and refocus business on consoles. But it is still fun to watch Ubisoft in its experiment to gather RL market data... |
NOTE TO TROLLS: Note this thread. Note it well! Here we have disagreement among individuals that didn't result in name-calling and hostility. Getting to be an unusual event around here...unfortunately !

Less a disagreement than a misunderstanding that was discussed and made to be an understanding. This thread feels like adults communicating and understanding each other. It's refreshing in the midst of what has become a lot of hostile attitudes as of late.
I, for one, appreciate civil discourse as found here. Well played, good sirs. :salute: |
ubisoft will remain successful just from console sales even if thier pc markets fall off. if they give up on the pc market it will be the loss of more pc titles for us pc gamers, and thats a sad thing.

I think people are becoming irritable because summer is just around the corner!!! Personally can't wait till i'm playing SHV with a Cuba Libre sat in the back garden, soaking up some rays!!!
Everyone makes mistakes no matter how slight, life would be boring otherwise and there would be nothing for us to discuss.......Notice I said discuss instead of argue about. I would think most of us virtual skippers are older than the real thing and its great to behave our age and debate instead of argue, makes this forum a much more welcoming and friendly place |
