The allies got revenge on me
Well after heading into the irish channel (bit foolish maybe) and after sinking 2 destroyers and one large merchant before, I came across a large convoy and attempted to shadow it to get in front. Well maybe due to the calm waters i was spotted by the side escort destroyer and all three came steaming after me. I lined the first one up and at roughly 2500m i fired a fast and shallow air driven eel right at him. He turned late but it was too late and he sank bow first very fast. That must have REALLY annoyed the other two as they picked up speed and i had noticed 3 elco torpedo boats also on a fast intercept course so i had no choice but to crash dive and evade. After some tense evasive moments they managed to depth charge me close enough to cause flooding and i ended up stuck on the sea bed going nowhere. One after the other the two destroyers made charge runs over my position missing me a number of times...then spot on....heavy flooding, 1 crew dead (my medic ironicly), 3 seriously injured and the faint popping sound of the metal bulkheads collapsing.
Oberleutnant Erich Solter and U-28 were lost sometime on 15th July 1940 (last contact with Bdu - shadowing convoy)
The destroyers and tordedo boats worked together I think. Didn't know torp boats had that ability. RIP :salute:
