[REL] Hires Typ VII U-Boat skin set for OM
These were originally made by FUBAR for SHIII, and all credit for the skins belongs to him.
I only did the necessary arrangements until they were ready for SHIV, and tested every one. They were made for my own use first but I think I should make them available for everyone. All are JSGME compatible, high resolution and ready for use with OM. In most case I have already made two separate downloads for VIIB and VIIC. If there is only one they can be made ready for the other by renaming a few files. About the different variants There is always one variant that is Fubars original, ready to use with SH4 UBM + OM. In addition I also made slightly modded versions, which I think come out better in SH4. They are: - less saturated - less blue - greyer - brighter - more contrast With the intended result that the colors in-game are more restrained and less saturated. Best try it out and see what you like more .. If you are in doubt which to use, you should take fubars originals. A word about the philosophy: I want plain, worn and weathered boats. Essentially grey, without fancy color schemes. I don't even use tower emblems. In my opinion SH4 makes them come out too blue in sunlight, and they could use a little adjustment. I had already uploaded preliminary revised versions but it turned out I have overfiltered them, so I have put here only the original versions.http://www.global-explorer.de/FILES/...8_mod_v4_s.jpg Fubars Typ VIIC 'Winter' original version Typ VIIC -> downloadFubars Typ VIIC 'U-552'http://www.global-explorer.de/FILES/...C_Winter_s.jpg http://www.global-explorer.de/FILES/...Winter_1_s.jpg original version Typ VIIC -> download |
These look really good. Will be downloading some of them.
Could you, please, tell me what enviromental mods are you using? The water in these twos hots looks great! http://www.global-explorer.de/FILES/...oot_mod_v1.jpg http://www.global-explorer.de/FILES/...u58_mod_v4.jpg |
That's easy. Simply install OM and OMEGU in the prescribed order:
OpsMonsun_V705 OMv705_to_V720 OMv720_Patch2 OMEGU_v300 OMEGU_v300_Patch5A I have no further mods which change graphics. Graphics settings: In-game: Everything maxed out, but fcs disable Post Process Filters!! It gives nothing but overbloom, like in a XBOX game. Make sure that you have Anti aliasing working! I had to set resolution to 1400x1050 (4:3) instead of a 1680x1050 (16:10). Force AA and AF through driver. Otherwise it would not work. From what I've seen in this board I would estimate 2/3 of the screenshots published have no working Anti Aliasing ;) PS: Even without Post Processing there will be that damn glowing of crewmen, does somebody know a solution for that? |
Thanks a lot! Will give it try...
|
:yeah:
Thanks a whole lot! Too bad I'm going away from my SH4 PC for more than a week, so I can't try these - but actually I was really looking for these. I do like the OM skins, but the camo'd VIIC was a little too fancy for me. Always wanted my plain grey back :) |
Thanks for hosting the revised skins
But isn't the Schlickgrau 58 in fact an early war paint scheme? :hmmm: I know in any case that the light grey was also an early war one, because U99 was painted like that, but IIRC the very famous U-47 was actually painted in SG 58 :yep: |
Hitman I have no idea why I wrote this, and I have already removed it.

Simply go to your drivers control center (Forceware for NVidia cards) and set AA and AF to values that you card can handle. What I mean with 'force AA' is to uncheck 'application controlled', for that doesnt work in SHIV.

If you use a VIIC you may have noticed the Turm VII/2 uses a different texture file (7c_Turm2.tga) and is not compatible with the ones from fubar. That's the reason you still see a camo scheme on the turm ,which is the embedded texture from the dat (not a very good one imo).
It seems to be related Zeewolfs fixes to the Turm. I know currently no ideal solution for this. I can use the Turm VII/2 dat from GWX to get the default texture mapping, but I see no crew, and it certainly breaks all fixes made by Zeewolf. Maybe someone else has an idea what could be done with Turm 2. |
Would be please possible to modify your grat U-552 skin so:
(two red devils and little 7th flotilla "bull") http://s3.postimage.org/33mksb684/u55203fr4.jpg and adjust this great GWX VIIC/41 skin for SH4 (OM+OMEGU)? http://s3.postimage.org/33my0ly6c/fubarok7.jpg |
Hi.
I am afraid modifying the turrets is very tricky. But if you're still interested I can tell you what you have to do: For VIIC / Turm 2 modify 7c_Turm2.tga. For all the other turrets the turret skin is in the bottom half of: NSS_Uboat7c_hull.tga (VIIC) NSS_Uboat7b_hull.tga (VIIB). As to converting Type II skins, I may do that in the future. But the requisite is you provide download link to the skin ... |
By the way, today I opened SH IV for the first time since a year.
All downloads are still there. In most of the VIIC versions Turm 2 is probably still borked. The reason is that they miss an updated 7c_Turm2.tga. Please let me know if anyone downloaded the skins and had a problem with that. |
A small fix for turret 2 was added.

Hello, I know its an old thread but do these skins still work?
