Does anyone else...
...keep giving IV a go with the latest mods, thinking 'the game must be fully baked by now'.
I just did it again, this time with latest Operation Monson and enhancements. It still just 'feels' glitchy and amatuerish in comparison to the GWX OLC experience. IV modders have made a valiant effort but... Will IV ever overtake III? |
Yes. Installed SH4. Put OpMonsun over ist. Played some hours. Deinstalled all.

I'm playing sh4 with OM just to try it (after having played sh3 gwx for a couple of years) and I am liking it. It has better graphic of course, the campaign is well done and almost nothing is missing, you need a little time to get used to it, because you won't find exactly the same stuff that is in sh3 gwx, but it is a nice experience; before judging it I'd play a whole campaign.
Although now there's shv and the modders are already working on it... |
I wonder if you'd get more relevant respondents if this was posted in the SH4 forum, for it is the thread's primary subject. :hmmm: Prolly likely to get a lot of "I've never played SH4 because SH3 is the best" or "I tried SH4 and gave up" here.

I agree, the campaign is much better and I think the ship sinking/damage models are probably more complex and realistic. Still have it installed at the moment. I'm going to try a full patrol before I consign it to the shelf again. |

Anyway, SH3 simply has a head start with more developed mods. Sh4 is getting there, with RFB2 and RSRD imho. I'm just too spoiled now with GWX, even with all the savegame issues that will never get resolved in SH3. |
SH3 is the crown.

did play a bit with SHIV and SHV (I will leave the latter at that), but I always come back to SHIII with GWX3. I find it more enthralling than the other 2.
