very fast crew
I gave the order to Surface, I was on the ladder, clicking to open the hatch, and was surprised to find all my crew waiting for me to pop out and join them.
Beside the hilarious situation, it's just gives you an unreal feeling. You can't give a dive command while you are on the bridge because "there are people on the bridge" (that's ok), so the other side of this realism is to see the people go out to the bridge or getting in through the hatch and not just pop there or vanish when you give the order to dive. I assume that a full visual sight of people running up the ladder when surfacing or hurry down the hatch when a dive order is given is too much to ask for right now.. but maybe some sound mod can be made to simulate the crew rushing up to man there posts or down the hatch (with the sound of the hatch closes shut) will do the trick for the meanwhile.. (Asking too much, ea? :haha:) Temujin |
Kinda like the uncanny valley... the more "realism" the dev's slap into a simulation, the more opportunity for us to pick out what's not quite right...

Wow! Good catch, "Lucky!" I always thought Polar Express was creepy, but didn't know why! NOW I do!

Looks more like he's sniffing his fingers... why he's doing that on a uboat, I don't wanna know...

I get a little annoyed with the inability to dive from surface too. Would be nice to order dive, see the ship start to sink then jump down the hatch in the nick of time!

All the animations were already there in the game. I dont know why the devs had not implemented it in the stock game. I presume it is because there is some clipping with some crew members going through others. Hopefully, the final product will eventually appear in a patch. |
Wait till you see how fast they can move the external stores :haha::har:

Personally, I've fallen off the ladder several times myself in my excitement to get away from Dieter. Then there was the time I was daydreaming while climbing up the ladder from the deck to the conning tower - and ended up going DOWN the ladder on the other side rather than turning left to head for the hatch...
And, YEAH for Tom Hanks, but that Polar Express version, chock-a-block full o'Lucky's, "uncanny valley" was...really creepy! Has anyone seen the masking stuff they occasionally run on Attack of the Show or Web Soup? Also too close to the, "uncanny valley" for me! |

On the flip side, when you order a dive the crew are very slow to go inside! I have to be first down the hatch, order the dive and hear the hatch close, then on external view it takes the guys some 10-20 seconds to disappear off the bridge, sometimes not doing so until after the boat has submerged. It would make much more sense if they disappeared almost instantly, but before the hatch closed (why not put a 5 second delay on the hatch auto-closing?), and appeared within 5-10 seconds of surfacing, giving you the chance to be first up top if you happen to be in a hurry. |

Very good point and i did'nt know that effect had a name, thanks. :) I find it rather annoying that I have first have to climb downstairs and then give the order to dive.. I mean, it takes about 30 secs to submerge, in real life I would have plenty of time to prevent drawning. :know: Another weird thing that when I am out of torps, I still can see two eels lying in the bow torp room. Come on Jungs, reload that stuff! :smug: |

You just have to start going down the conning tower ladder before you can order the dive. I can do it under 4 seconds, especially when I hear "aircraft spotted". Another method is to just stay down in the control room. Useful when travelling under TC. This way you can dive as soon as your watch crew spots a ship or aircraft. |
