SH4 DRM?
 

I recently installed SH4 onto my new build and I can't remember what if any DRM type software SH4 installs on your computer (a la Starforce like SH3 did). I know that SH4 does not come with starforce, but I accidentally clicked the installed shortcut which made a quick loading screen appear and disappear and then the game started-it very much reminded me of the sequence that unfolds when starting SH3 from the CD and starforce installs. It did something, but I don't know if it was an installation or just a quick check online or something like that. Do I need to check to see if anything was installed and remove it?

SH4 patch v1.4 and U-Boat add-on v1.5 will remove any copy protection from the game. Don't waste time trying to remove it yourself. ;)

And they removed the DVD check, too ;)

I know it has a gu.exe that checks with their server for updates, also crashed the game for some if that's the red bar that scans for a second when you start.

okay - it sounds like I don't need to look for anything then because I installed the 1.5 patch so it must have been an online check. thx

:hmmm: Check to make sure you're not launching the game via the gu.exe shortcut. If you are, swap it out for the standard sh4, found in the main game folder. Either edit the old shortcut or create a new one.
