returning to port after patrol
 

I finished patroling my grid and went all the way back to Kiel but nothing is happening. I got a radio message saying all konigberg uboat to return but Im stationed out of Kiel. So am i supposed to wait for bdu saying when i can return to port?

P.s. my first patrol so im a bit noobish at this

When you get close to your port hit Esc. It should ask if you want to dock at Kiel. Hit OK and your patrol will be over.

Hi feelinlucky. I was a bit confused at first when I did my first patrol as well. I too finished the 24 hr stint and then twiddled my thumbs wondering what was next. I did eventually receive a message saying "continue hunting at my discretion" (or something similar). So I wandered off to find some action (I did, it sunk me:wah:).

As far as I can work out, you can stay out for as long as you want (fuel and torps permitting). Messages coming in from bdu are sent out to all uboats (remember its a radio message, not recipient specific like an email) so you only need to take notice of the ones which apply to your uboat number. If I've got this wrong someone will shout.

As Sailor Steve says, when you do get back to base hit escape and go from there. I'm not sure how far out you can be before you get this option though. I'm sure some of the vets can let us know.

I think it's 30 km, but I'm not sure as I always park my boat back at the dock so I can hear the band and the crowd welcome me in.

The easiest way is to just hit Esc. If the option says "Return To Base", you're too far away (though it's my understanding that the game doesn't give renown for that like it's supposed to anyway). If you are close enough the option will be "Dock at XXXX"

I thought I read something in the docs, or something that you have to be within 5km to have that option pop up.

as far as reown I have not seen this to be true that you get more for docking. rather than just using the esc key

As I said, you were supposed to get extra renown for driving home, but it doesn't work.

The renown for returning to base has NEVER worked regardless of whether your playing stock or a super mod.

don't you think getting renown for returning to base should be installed again when simming the last 2years of war??

Nobody has ever fixed the fault and to be fair to the Grey Wolves....even if it had of been fixeable (and I'm not suggesting it was)....It was never anywhere near the top of the list of priorities.

no criticism at GWX, just liked to express that coming back to port in this stage of war deserves gratifications .... :03::DL

No offence taken but some things we just have to put up with. Hell, some people don't think renown should be used in game :DL
