Please, give me the name of the girl !
Inside the wonderfull gramophone gave us by our God Jimbuna, there is a song absolutly magic for those who likes this music.
The title is "It's been a long long time" by Charlie Spivak and his orchestra. But inside appears an angel voice and I want to know the name of this angel. Can you tell it me ? Would it be Ina Ray Hutton or is it somebody else ? Ini Ray Hutton http://i67.servimg.com/u/f67/13/87/46/18/irhutt10.jpg Definitively, I'm in love whit this angel, Never to late to be young lol. |
Irene Daye has the vocals on Charlie Spivak's version. She did a lot of recordings with a hero of mine - Gene Krupa. Prolly best known for her vocals on Drum Boogie. I *think* she has vocals on all the tracks on this CD.
Irene Daye: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_qfj6el71ck.../IreneDaye.JPG Incidently, Irene eventually married Charlie. Here's another photo of Ina though... http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/252/38723055.jpg |

On another note, My God.............They just don't make women like they used to..........:o drool........ |
"Back to the futur" !
What a trip ! It would be wonderful. Women at that time had a wonderful body, beautifull look but also other voices that today. When they sang, you felt love with a big L coming out of their throat like come on through the ages. When a woman said to you: "You'll never know how many dreams I've dreamed about you" you could be sure she did not cheat. Today you watch "telephone" by Lady Gaga and you want to vomit. I'm happy in my submarine fully closed. |
Women back in this time were real. To many "girls" of my generation (22) do nothing but give these women a bad name.
I guess its true the world really is going down hill. I hate that I'm so young not to have been around in this era. Like it you said I bet it was a trip. |
She is marvellous though a bit old for my age... LOL! :rotfl2:
Hell, she died relatively young. |

Ok, I suggest that we put Irene definitively in our "Hall of fame" with Helen Forrest, Peggy Lee, Dinah Shore and Vera Lynn
Who open the thread ? A big galery will be nice it'snt ? EDIT There is Irene as my new coning tower emblem. http://i67.servimg.com/u/f67/13/87/46/18/sh3im113.jpg (How can I upload on subsim the tga files for all who wants use it ??) |
Charlie Spivak finished out his days playing at a steakhouse in my hometown... I was too young to appreciate him, at the time, unfortunately.

Guys, the photos I posted above are of two different people - the first is Irene, the second is Ina Ray Hutton.
Anyway, what's a thread here without Carole Landis... http://www.skylighters.org/larry/sweatergirl4a.jpg Checkout many others at the WWII Glamour Girl Parade and oodles more here. |
