Maximum Depth Reached?
I'm wondering what maximum depth's have been achieved and maintained, for how long, and what kind of sub.
Iv'e never really went amazingly deep but I have taken a type XXI down to 300m .went down to the max on the dial then I just ordered a dive till we reached 290 and I leveled off and just floated for the next depth charge attack (I could see the charges going off like 50m above me through the scope) I held the depth for the time it took me to finish a cigarette then came up to 260m |

When asking "depth" questions it is wise to also question which mods are installed. Type IXB. Stock SH3. 182 Meters. "Uboat destroyed by pressure". 100% Hull Integrity. |
It gets most interesting when you use SH3 Commander and enable the 'Randomise U-boat crush depth'.

yesterday I was DCed heavily after an attack at a convoy in February 1943. couldn't get to safe depth quickly enough. at 120m six or seven ash-cans exploded around me. my VIIC took severe damage with flooding in two compartments. fore batteries completely destroyed.
the boat plunged down to 210m until I finally could keep depth ("extreme" speed back and blowing ballast were the key-measurements). quickly repaired what was vital and went to silent running again. we had only 20% of the batteries left, so we plainly lay aroung 180m and waited for the DDs to leave the scene. two hours later we surfaced and limped home where we were informed that HI was around 97% sadly we had still 5aale left, but couldn't risk any further armed engagement. fog helped us through the Bay too, where allied planes are now a real pita. |
About 8500m. :yeah:

it's been a first for me! :DL never reached this stage of war until now. usually I was able to reach safe depths before any escort caught me. I understand there are now more "elite" ASW than in the years before ..... |
In a type VII/41 I have gone about 290 meters deep without taking any water several times. When in a career with type VIIB I stick to a rule that I never let it past 235 meters. Maybe it could take a bit more but I don't want to lose my career for trying that.
I've gone down to 390 meters in stock SH3 with a type VIIC :D . It was more like a bug but it didn't crush for quite a while even as deep as that. And if I remember right type XXI started taking water near 400 meters. |
Went to 161m then went back up when my CE warned me I was going too deep.

Don't get me wrong though it's not all smiles and sunshine when going that deep, your hull makes horrible noises, your men tell you your going to deep, guages burst, lights flicker, and all that nasty stuff |

It actually happens earlier but it is not too obvious. |
I tried to kill my sub after the sound went haywire in the game. So I thought I would have some fun and crush her. To my surprise, I could not. I ordered the maximum depth and she still did not spring a leak. I even ordered crash dive at this point, and nothing happened. Is there a command to adjust the dive planes?

I did that with a VIIB in GWX3 in 1940 and it crushed around 350 |
I just used the Dive command and went from 260 M to 322 M and survived with only some broken bulbs. I didn't want to test my luck any further.
