realism settings: conflict with difficulty settings

so, i'm trying to play with most of the realism setting on, except manual targeting. i'm trying to leave the torpedo solutions for the crew.

the thing is when i start a career and it has the "difficulty" settings...if i put it on hard or expert it changes the realism setting back to manual targeting, which i don't want.

and, if i put the "difficulty" setting on normal it changes the realism setting to unlimited fuel & unrealistic torpedo loading times, and assorted other things.

why the conflict with the realism setting & difficulty setting?

In the office before a patrol, go to the radio on the shelf to the left. You can set your realism options there.

For some reason, the options don't carry over from the ones set in the main menu.

Yep, seems we all had o find that out when we first started playing, the gameplay options at the loading screen are basically single player, using the radio for career.

I'm sure in was in the manual :har:

This does seem to be one of the most asked questions...

I even forget sometimes.

I'm gonna have to pull out the manual when I get home. Should be good for a laugh.
