Do we currently fly similar probes in to russian airspace?

Snestorm 03-25-10 05:15 AM

Aren't overflights justification enough for a shoot down?

XabbaRus 03-25-10 06:11 AM

It wasn't an overflight, just in UK airspace the ADIZ. Can't stop them flying in it, just they should say who they are...

I can't see the big deal. Russians get to flag wave, RAF looks good.

@XabbaRus

Thanks for the info. It clears up quite a-bit.

Wasn't there an occasion earlier this year when a Russian jet flew up the eastern coastline of England completely unchallenged? :hmmm:

Oberon 03-25-10 08:01 AM

IIRC it was about five minutes out from Hull before it was challenged and turned back.

I don't know if we still overfly Russian airspace, I'd doubt the UK does it, but the US probably does.

No big deal, just interesting to see it back to the old days. At least it should stop more cuts on the interceptor squadrons. So, thank you Medved and Putin! :yeah:

I suspect they might well have escorted the bomber in... :03:

Maybe you should send a bill to the Kremlin with the costs for the interception .... :nope:
