[WIP] Combined Waterstreams+Flags/Pennants/DFANT+Exterior Lightmaps
 
Hi chaps,

I have been working on producing a fix to allow the Waterstreams/Exhaust mod to work with Flakmonkey's type 7c exterior lightmaps and Anvarts Flags, Pennants and DF Antenna mod.

So far I've only done the Type 7c 1 turm.

I have had good success to date except for the black turm issue. I tried changing the mesh IDs but that didn;t solve it, maybe Flakmonkey could help me out here. Except for that issue everything is working fine. I am using Flakmonkey's turm with new mesh IDs and I have added the water reflections but the black turm problem persists.

I will include it in my multimod compatability fix beta when it is complete.Not shown in the screenshot, the pennants works fine in harbour.

Im not at my own pc right now but if you have s3d (which im guessing you do), try this.
  1. Open the 7c1 turm dat with s3d
  2. find the node called something like turm7c_1_conning7c_high
  3. expand that node and select the 3dmodel (node #42 IIRC)
  4. right click and export that 3d model and its uv2 channel as obj files to your desktop (or wherever)... make sure in the export settings that pop up that you have "export to obj (others)" selected under the map channels option and that both turm###.obj and turm###-uv2.obj are ticked then export.
  5. now you can right click on the 3dmodel node and delete it from the dat
  6. reselect the parent node of the model you just deleted (turm7c_1_conning7c_high)
  7. right click it and select add new child chunk > 3d model
  8. select the model you exported (the ###-uv2.obj file will be seen automaticaly) and import.
  9. If you get a popup asking about importing normals select yes
Deleting and then re-inserting the 3dmodel node in this way will give a totally new mesh ID and the game sees it as a whole new model, it should solve the black tower problem... hopefully.

Hit a snag,

I'm using Anvart's 3D model from ish flag/pennants/df antenna mod.

I tried exporting but it won't let me select both UVW and OBJ only OBJ it only has one texture set/channel.

When I import it back in there's only the obj and I get a CTD on mission load even though it work with a black turm before deleting and re-importing.

Any thoughts mate?.

You dont need to export the uvw file thats a 3dsmax specific option used as an alternative to the multiple obj/-uv2 route, you just need the obj files, after export you should have 2 obj files called for example turm_7.obj and turm_7-uv2.obj and 2 automaticaly generated .mtl files corresponding to the obj files.

Thanks my friend, I have much to learn my specialisms are 2D artwork, some programming and video not 3D graphics. I have been "moding" various games for about twenty years. Your work on SH3 and that of many other modders have made the seemingly impossible, possible!.

Aces,

Is there any chance of including Privateer's Turm_your_way mods which allow you to place the Emblems anywhere on the 7b and 7c towers. I have used these mods for quite a while and have over one hundred historically correct towers which i have skinned and would like to release one day. Conus00 and Tarjack were also skinning towers using this method so it could be benificial to all and one day we may have a complete set of accurate tower emblems as well as these other exellent mods.
