Kpt.Kurt Neulinger's maiden patrol in U-48.The avenging of U-16
After the tragic sinking of U-16 last night I am setting up a second career of my campaign,and will be returning to 'their' assigned grid in AM87.
We will be joining Kpt. Kurt Neulinger in U-48 on his maiden patrol on the 1st November 1939.They will be sailing from Wilhemshaven in a new VIIB with nothing short of pure vengeance in their hearts. Wish them luck :arrgh!: |
Good luck! :salute:
In before jimbuna-SINK 'EM ALL! :arrgh!: :) |
Cheers SB! :arrgh!::up:
I'm looking forward to this one,really feel motivated! :rock: |
Hopefully, your U-48 will fare better than mine.
U-48 was one of my early war boats and most successful. She and her crew went down in the fjord near Narvik during the Norway operation in April 1940. A posthumous Knights Cross was awarded for sinking the Rodney(I hadn't added jimbuna's Warspite mod at that time).:oops: :) |
Keep posted for U-48's journey :salute:

U-48 finally draws French blood
2nd Nov 1939
15:41 First blood has just been drawn by U-48! Travelling through BF33 we caught sight of a lone merchant travelling east through the channel.I ordered max speed and to man the gun.Drawing closer we could see the hated tricolour flag of the French and I yelled "dont shoot yet! only fire when you can smell their filth!".Finally,we got to about 500m of the doomed vessel and I bellowed "let the swine have it! aim for their hull!" .My guncrew pounded the piglet for a good 10 mins expending 32 precious shells in the process (due to their inexperience for the moment) and the swine sank on even keel for just under 2.000GRT. It may be only a little snack but now we have blood in our teeth,and we are getting hungry! :arrgh!: Upon seeing the hated vessel sink beneath the calm water we all gave the customary 2 fingered salute to the dead Frenchmen and I ordered emergency speed and to leave the area immediately,for we shall not face the same fate as U-16. |

U-48 sinks her teeth into another victim
U-48 sinks her teeth into another hapless victim,this time at night.
The following describes what happened- 17:08 only hours after our earlier victim we spot another lone merchant,this time heading west through BF33,mean course 260,speed 5kts.I decide to shadow the phantom on the horizon at 5kts and wait until nightfall for another deck gun attack,this time the night will conceal our position until the last moment. 19:00 moving in fast from behind the merchant,so far undetected at 2km 19:28 finally pulled up alongside the vessel maintaining course and speed with her,then bellowed "feur frei!" .My men pounded her waterline with the gun sending huge plumes of fire and smoke into the night sky.In a panic the merchant trained her light on us illuminating everything all around including the watch officer's slowly growing beard.The battle ground was bathed in a ghostly white light mixed with orange and red from burning steel against a backdrop of black soot.The French swine finally went down on even keel in a scene from hell after 21 well placed rounds,for a meagre total of 1869GRT. My crew are in top form and excellent spirits as we move ever closer to our breakout into the Irish sea.May the war gods be with us :arrgh!: Current patrol total = 2 for 3.733GRT,43 HE rds expended,14 gas torpedoes left |
I had a U48 once.
She wouldn't let me do anything wrong. Everything I screwed up, she somehow managed to fix, and turn into tonnage. After topping 300.000 GRT, she was retired, AND SURVIVED. |
