Getting my screenshots working. Can Photobucket convert TGA files to JPEG?

Well,I managed to get my screenshots path working when playing with the resolution fix mod, now,I need to convert those TGA files to JPEG,then upload them to my livejournal account then upload them here. So,can Photobucket convert those files?,if not could you please provide the most popular program you use?

This WILL be much appreciated :woot:

I managed to convert it to JPEG format through Irfanview, now how do I finally upload to here from that program?
Also, the quality doesnt look as good as the original, any ideas how I can improve it to close to what the original was? In other words, how do you do it? some of the screens in here are exactly like the original screen captures in game.

I use the open source freeware GIMP:
http://www.gimp.org/

It doesn't have convert to jpg out of the box, but it does have convert to .gif which should work just fine for web.

Edit: My bad, yes gimp DOES convert to jpg out of the box.

yes, GIMP is a fine open-source application with high reputation. and as far as I understand there is no mandatory pic-format as long as it is just way smaller than the ridiculous *.bmp.

I'll try GIMP out then, cheers

In answer to the original question, yes, Photobucket can do all that.

On the other hand, so can Microsoft Paint, which comes with all PCs.

When converting TGA to JPEG for example is it possible to retain the original screenshot quality?

The original bmp for this image was around 2.4 megs. Using gimp, I converted it using the default 85% quality setting (now 199 kb):
