GRATS!
Flying is a blast. I used to do it, but alas, it is sooo expensive to rent a plane these days. |
Nice. :yeah:
|
Congrats.
Keep the greasy side down and the shiny side up:salute: |
Wow! Still hope for us other old guys, uh?
What's next a ride in a T-38 trainer? |
Just make sure they throw in a free "landing lesson" and you'll do fine!

Awesome, nice one Bill! So long as you have the same number of take-offs to landings in your log book you'll do fine :salute:
|
Congratulations! Your first flight is a memory you will never forget. :D
And I can sum it all up in just one word: courage, dedication, daring, pride, pluck, spirit, grit, mettle, and G-U-T-S, *guts*. Why, Bill Nichols' got more guts in his little finger than most of us have in our large intestine, including the colon! :D |

Congratulations Bill....when we met in Houston I believe it was a new car you were excited about.
Care to admit what you've had to placate the missus with? :DL |

I learned from my stepfather. He had this habit of reaching over and pulling the power back to idle if he caught me not being diligent enough in my flying. He owned two planes and we would go flying all the time. One was a Cherokee 142, the other a Cessna 150 He would always tell me to be on the lookout for a potential landing place every second. That every second, something could go wrong and I had to have a plan that you could inact INSTANLY when something happened like the engine suddenly quiting. Anyway, he wold reach over and pull the power off and tell me that I could NOT put it back on. He would then go: "Your plane, now, where are you gonna land?" Talk about great training. How far can you glide at this altitude? Where was that last flat looking spot I thought I could land if I had to. You can not just bank around looking for a flat spot as you would waste energy. You had to do it right the FIRST time as you only had ONE shot at it. TWICE I dang near landed the thing before he would go .. "Look at that, the engine is working again." Awesome teacher. My check ride and solo were a breeze. |

Hmmmm... come to think of it, maybe it was that new life insurance policy she bought for me? :dead: "Flying a plane is no different than riding a bicycle, just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes." |

Enjoy my friend  |
Well I'm envious.
If you ever fly near Kansas City let me know and we can go out for a meal. Same with you John :) |
