Improving crash dive time
Hi there,
with SH5 being released my old U-Boot feaver came up once again and I installed SH3 again and downloaded GWX 3 Gold as main mod. And now in late 1941 with a IXC boat I start getting more and more afraid of enemy aircraft putting holes in my shiny new boat, on my last they lit me up twice and hull went down to 72% (lucky me I have to say) and the reason I reckon is, that it takes my chief way too long to carry out that damn crash dive order. I mean right now it is like this: I press 'c' -nothing happens for like 2 secs- Chief: '...Jawohl, Herr Kaleun...' (in a ridiculously slow way) -nothing happens for another second- Chief: 'Aaalaaaaarrrrmmmm' (Das Boot style, very nice) Is there a mod to shorten this stuff up? I tried removing the crey dependance for crash dive with SetKeys, but then I lose that stylish alarm yell, so I guess I'd have to mess around with the sound files which I'm not really capable of, so an extra mod would be great. |
What has worked for me when in Airplane Country is to order a depth of six meters, this will save you about 10 seconds in your crash dive. :salute:
Drawback: You'll burn more fuel |

What was the sea state when you crashed dived?
Rough seas appear to slow it down some it seems. I call one crash dive a day to keep the fellows sharp and time it from stopwatch. "Practice makes perfect".:yep: |
No, it was good weather and sight, early in the morning I think, but then the planes where two of those hella fast Hurricanes.
Second time it was a Kingfisher, but weather was bad and sight was limited, so I understand it. Does practice actually help to train your men? I can't quite believe that. Anyways, I have now settled with removing the 'crew' entry in the commands_en.cfg, but would still appreciate those modified sound files. |
