Nights are too clear
Hello :)
It seem to me that the nights are too clear in SH5. Maybe its due to my monitor (LCD wide). I don't know ... Of course, I can decrease his brightness. But the days are perfects and I don't want to modify the settings of my monitor every time for the night and the day. If there is another way :) Maybe there is a way to change some value (s) in some files and make the nights darker ? Thanks. Luc |
Squint! Or wear sunglasses at night. :DL

You can try adjusting the gamma from the video preferences.

I got the same problem, using an LCD.
Cannot find a gamma setting that is suitable for both day and night. Guess I'll look for those sunglasses :sunny: |
Thanks :DL
Yes the sunglasses :hmmm: Why not ..... :) But except this excellent idea, there are not some parameters to solve this problem ? |
been playing a while and felt like you at first, nights are too bright/clear, then today i intercepted a convoy at night and it was pretty dark. Reloaded that save and it seems too bright again. ugh..

If the game doesn't have your preference, just adjust your LCD's settings.
|
How dark it is depends on where you are and of course the weather. But up north it will be lighter due to the midnight sun.

But my question is about the possibility to change one ou some value (in a cfg file for example) to make the night darker. Maybe there is no parameter for this, maybe there is one. I don't know. it's why my question :) |
I think the visibility model is one of the best things about SH5. Some nights - if you go out on the water, or live on the coast, are startingly clear. You can easily make out the horizon and silhouttes.

All I can say is...
Mod makers...PLEASE DONT MAKE THE NIGHTS SO DARK!!! The only complaint I had with GWX is the nights were so dark I couldnt see the UZO on my own bridge due to my Dell Montior being very much darker than most monitors. Its a lot easier to jack down your gamma or contrast (or play with sunglasses ) then it is to have to ALT-TAB all the time to adjust gamma UP so you can see at night, and during the day everything is washed out so ALT-TAB again to turn it down. |
I think the night-time brightness is influenced by the position of the moon. When it's up, you have a very bright night. A little too bright perhaps (even on my old CRT monitor), but then again it helps when playing the game at times - all too often do I end up shutting the doors and curtains on a bright sunny day (in real life). My wife doesn't always approve!
It seems that the problem is with the moon phase. Even when it's just a small crescent, the brightness is significant. On moonless nights (well, when the moon is below the horizon, rather than a new moon), it's quite dark. Then the bright UI is a pain, as the map, TAI, and recognition manual are dazzlingly bright when attacking. |
talking about nights being clear, have u seen how clear the water looks below the surface?
