Best speed for fuel range

Does it change ?

I tried various speeds with those results :

6 knots : 28456
7 knots : 27462
8 knots : 28523
9 knots : 24395
10 knots : 19125

So for my type VIIB it seems to be 8 knots.

Can I safely always use 8 knots ? It never changes ?

8-10 kts is a good cruising speed and also for conserving fuel.In my IIA in and around Britain I have been using 10kts with ample in reserve for emergencies and high speed chases.
8kts in a VII would be very economical in my estimate.

I've always just stuck with "Slow".
Never a problem.

God it must take you like 1 year to enter the Atlantic at slow ;)
Still, you are gonna have tonnes of juice left to do practically what you want WHEN you want at that rate.

In an old campaign using stock a long time ago I once got posted right down near Cape Town,I mean right at the bottom of the map,I was sure it was a bug.I simply said to BDU "not a chance, now court martial me" ,I then stole a VIIC and went into hiding up near the arctic circle :rotfl2:

The range seems to peak out at 8 knots for a type VII and it appears not to change. I've done the same thing you did for each type of boat I've sailed and recorded them for future reference. It's one of the first things I do when I set out on patrol with a new type of boat.

IIRC, 8-9 knots seem to be the most economical speed for most boats.

Yes, it's my experience too that 8knots is best for TypeVII. I'm not sure about 10kts in a type II though. I think it was more like 6. Unless they changed it in GWX 3. My experience is from 1.04 and 2.x

8/9 knots is about right http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif
