Noob question re. installing mods.
 

Hi all... please have patience with me re. this problem. I am very noobish. I d/loaded a file for changing the interface to the old SH 3 way (Old Style SH Controls (familiar 3 dials) for UI (3.48 MB). It is a PHP file and I don't know what to do with it. If I open it with Textpad it just a mass of assorted text. Do I simply paste it in a Mods folder in SH5 as it is?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi matey - you need to download and use the JSGME programme to install the mods.

You should find it in the mods section. Once you have that it's pretty easy to install / uninstall mods

JSGME will work for pretty much any moddable game. I use it to mod Oblivion and Morrowind too.

I have read the forums since the game came out. I bought it first day on the shelf but was really disappointed with both the interface and the online DRM situation and was waiting to see what would happen. I cut my teeth on SH3 and with the Grey Wolves exp. etc., really loved it, even recently.
I had (and still have) faith in all the great modders who are now busy beavering away pulling Ubisoft outta the hole they dug for themselves.
That's why I am so excited at the mods already appearing.
My question now is - because I think the SH3 interface etc., works really well (for me), can one of you kind gentlemen please tell me which particular mods I should d/load which will convert SH5 into a near relative of SH3? I would also be very happy for some similar mods to SH4. Thank you all.
(Truth is - I am tempted to d/load every mod I can get my hands on but I really need some guidance).

WOW!!!. Thanks ROB... That little lot will really light my fire. I am not trying to replicate SH3. The graphics / eye candy are terrific in SH5. Wouldn't change it for the world. I reckon that with suitable mods this game will really rock. I bet that within six months - even sooner - Ubisoft will patch it off of the online pain in the butt (I know about the crack) and with all the incoming mods it will emerge a real winner.
