Screen goes black and returns to normal

Hello

When i walk around in my sub the screen goes black and then returns to normal. This only happens when walking in the sub, but i doesn't happen when I'm outside.
I think it is the Nvidia driver that crashes.
I'v just installed the new Nvidia 197.13 driver and hoped that the problem was gone but nooooo.
I have had this problem many times before but have never been able to find a solution.

MY Specs:
Intel E6600 2,44Ghz @ 2,66Ghz
Evga Gforce 9800GTX+ 512Mb
Corsair 4Gb Ram

Using Windows 7 x64

I Hope some of you out there has a solution :DL

Kind Regards

Hi gents,

I posted a thread a few days ago with a workaround that seems to be working very well for me at the moment. I know there are likely to be different causes to these issues. But at least give this a try:

Turn shadows up to medium or max. For some reason, although making things a bit slower inside the submarine, it has stopped the black screen problem for me.

I will admit that it has happened once or twice in the past week since the change, but considering ive been playing solid for the past few evenings thats better than constantly during play.

I notice that the moment I turn the shadows off again during gameplay inside the sub, the problem returns alost immediatley.

I hope this helps in some way. :)

I can confirm this workaround works great for me. I'm running Windows 7 x64 and had issues with black screen (driver crashes) as soon as I walked around the interior. I tried a few different Nvidia drivers with no luck, but as soon as I turned my shadows back on again (to medium), the issue went away and never appeared since.

MSI nvidia 9600GT, 512mb and on 196.75 drivers. Not a single prpblem inside or out of the sub, and even when going for a swim.
No card fan speed issues either, and I've run SH5 every night for 3-4 hrs since I got the game.

Personally, I think the hoopla over the 196.75 drivers was just that.
Kinda like all the Toyota drivers who dont know where neutral is.

I found the problem. I have had overclocked my graphics card, so i was running to hot :damn:
About Shadows. I can only run the game i i turn shadows off. If i set shadows to minimum the game only runs with 16fps :hmmm:

The black screen problem is very frustrating indeed, I spent about 2 days diagnosing and resolving my issue with it!!
