First mission
 

On my way in early April 1940 to an area near Narvik Norway. This is my first mission in the Monsun mod. Cruising up the coast of Norway when my crew spotted a ship.

I tried to run ahead on a similar course but even at flank the distance was lessening. Worried about being seen I dove and took an intercept course still on flank.

I was lucky and ended up with a decent shot at about 800 meters with a Norway flagged merchant doing about 11 knots. A hit and the merchie immediately slowed to 1 knot making my second shot miss.

She limped along and I surfaced and put 30 rounds into her from the deck gun at a range between 500 and 600 meters - lots of damage but she hasnt sunk yet. I put a second torp into her side and over the next 30-45 minutes she settled and finally sunk.

It was neat that I could watch her settle and not just immediately go under. Lucky for me too no escorts - the weather was awful so no real worried about planes.

Neat mod. Well 1940 is still the good old days for the German sub force - right?
