Missing ship sinking confirmation (resulting in tonnage loss) in captain's logs

From my last patrol report you will see that I sunk 3 ships (1 Granville,1 Med Cargo,1 Small Merch) for a total of 11.961 tonnes, and a renown score of 347.80.I know this because on my way back after the patrol ended I checked my patrol log (button k) to check the sinkings logs and record my tonnage on paper. However, when I got back to port I looked in the captain's logs and the game confirmed only 2 sinkings for a total of 10.124 tonnes and a renown score of 282.00 , a loss of 1.837 tonnes and 65.8 renown.
This is not a major loss but I would still like the game to account for the 3 sinkings instead of 2.In my experience this is the first time I have encountered this behaviour.
Any ideas what went wrong here and how I can edit the game (via patrol editor?) to correctly display the 3 sinkings? If this can't be done then at least I have all my patrol notes on paper confirming my kills.

Thanks.

I had that happen with a destroyer. It was my last torpedo and i was heading away[in case i missed]i thought maybe i was too far from the sinking site.i don'tknow if its supposed to work that way or not.

Not sure myself mate.Good to know someone else has had this happen.Someone in here will no doubt know what is going on here, probably somebody back at base not doing their job properly is my guess :nope:
I was definitely close enough to the last sinking, approx 1500-2000m off its beam after a night surfaced attack if I remember correctly.I also remember it taking a while to go under, approx 30 mins and I stayed around until it went under then radioed base that I was returning after all torpedoes were expended.
As I said, the in game log (button k) confirmed all 3 kills.

did happen to me too.
there are some reasons for not getting the renown or the confirmed sinking:
- too shallow waters (the "sunken" vessel is not recognized by the game as destroyed)
- too far away when the victim finally sinks
- very few times it happens without any obvious reasons

KL-alfman,

- vessel sank in approx 60-70m of water approx 120 degrees and approx 60km from the Orkneys
- vessel was well within sight, approx 1500m from its beam
- I think the latter in my case,no obvious reason for the error

right, the latter might have occurred.
shame, one day when travelling home to port, I could hit a large freighter with my last aal - it slowly sank in bad wheather and when I looked at the nav-map there was no symbol. ok, that happens sometimes but at least there is an entry in the log. but in this case: no sentence about it.

All I need to do now is figure a way out to edit the game files in order to verify the 3 sinkings,if at all this can be done. Some wizard in here will surely know.
For the record,I have never edited the game files before but would like to learn how to :know:

It is frustrating but it happens. I just chalk it up to Bdu not giving me credit for the kill(probably happened a lot IRL).It is a lot more frustrating than when the Luftwaffe or weather steals the kill. :damn:

To help avoid it, I do everything I can to stay in the area or keep visual contact of my target, but it gets difficult when you are trying to dodge and sneak away from angry escorts. Late war, when that becomes verrrry difficult, you are more concerned with survival than tonnage, especially when the hedgehogs are raining down on you like a summer hailstorm. :dead:

:)

I've had that happen several times. It's frustrating when I wait two hours or more for a big, juicy freighter to roll over and sink, and not get the credit due.

I just chalk it up to Murphy's Law and sail onward. :yep:

Sometimes the weather kills a crippled ship. I usually don't check my skipper logs, so I don't know if that sort of kill appears on the log, but not a bDu.

Ive only been playing a month, enough to get up to April 1940, but its happened to me once. I had just enough ammo to set a coastal merchant listing but it wouldnt sink so I racked up the time compression. It took about an hour to sink and I didnt get the credit. It must be down to the sinking time.

All you can do is curse, bang your fist into the Navigator's table and carry on :nope:
"VERDAMMT!"
