DRM continues to be an issue.

First , every time i try and load a game, the stupid thing says i have no internet connection and kicks me back to the main menu.

So, i restart the program, then it tells me i have no internet connection at login.

I try again, i finally get in, load the game, and now were back to kicking me back to the main menu.

Is it too much to ask for to be able to play a god damn singleplayer game? I guess so. Im THIS close to just shelving this thing. Maybe even try and get a god damn refund. This is intolerable.

:o
If you've got a community legend like DUCIMUS about to deep six this game...

:o

I gotta say, when I read an article on the escapist this morning about repeated UBI Server DoS attacks (or server crap-outs, who can tell the diff?)...I was conflicted.

On the one hand I was cheering for it to just go to pot...on the other hand that meant that fellow gamers who spent their money in good faith, were getting shafted and unable to play.

I feel for anyone who is struggling with an unplayable game and hope UBISOFT TAKES FLIPPING NOTICE!

The server seems to be able to maintain the connection once you get to game. Have been running now for rougly 1½ days straight (on 1xTC patrol) and have not gotten kicked out of the game once.

Now I'm afraid to shut it down.

You must be hating yourself Ducimus by leting yourself suffer like that. In your shoes I would be long time enjoyng cracked version with no disruptions :)

There are people out there who actually do not want to be pirates.

Yeah, you probably should shelf it for a week, it sounds like it is stressing you out, man.

rulez_Cz 03-09-10 01:04 PM

exactly the same problm....while posting this and feeling quite online the game is not runing due to connection problems...

I am not enjoying this any more...

"Doing the bad thing" to a game you legally own is not piracy, even if talking about "the thing" is not permitted by Subsim rules. In this particular case, when "doing the thing" would actually mean the difference between a working and non-working product, it would also be directly permitted by the law in many countries.

That said I'm currently very happy I don't own SH5. 3 and 4 are working excellent, Ubi's servers up or not, and I can actually play them.

A screenshot of what i see everytime i try and load a saved game. Even one in port:

You know what, it's time to bust out one of my favorite T shirts

Screw this, im going back to Sh4. I don't have the patience for this.

I'm really surprised nobody saw this coming...especially the techies who dreamed it up in the first place. Having the game dependent on a server connection instantly makes that server connection the company's Achilles heel. Ubisoft and any other company using this form of DRM are probably (hopefully) rethinking their strategy now.

For myself, I am so glad I didn't buy into this headache. I don't blame Ubisoft for wanting to find a solution but I think they should have time tested it first before opening Pandora's box the way they have. Put simply, it's not bringing the results they anticipated...not even close.

I uninstalled my SH5 and will be shelving it until the DRM-removing patch or final patches get released, and a viable supermod(like SH3's legendary GWX) that fixes the serious issues this game has will come out. GL HF all, I predict that in around 1 or 2 years I'll be more than happy to play this game, but not in it's current condition, I might just reinstall SH3.

To the best of my knowledge, bypassing copy protection without the permission of the rights holder is illegal. :hmmm:

Same problem here. I can get to the main menu, but when i load a game.. i can see myself standing in the conning tower ready to go, but it says "Connection Problems".

That's 2 days now i can't play.

:damn::damn::damn::damn:

AVGWarhawk 03-09-10 01:24 PM

I have run into this with COD World at War. It is frustrating but eventually I'm able to connect. So far I have only one hiccup with the connection and that was Sunday morning and it did not last long. I was playing after three attempts.

Its crap like this that will kill the PC game industry...

Utter garbage that in order to play a single player game you need to have a net connection and be able to connect to their servers... complete BS!

This is exactly why I support companies like paradox interactive who don't use DRM. When will companies realize they are only driving away their paying customers by making them feel like criminals (which will, out of frustration make them pirates) while doing nothing to the actual pirates.

Back from my patrol...

Guys I've got the same message 2 hours ago.

Tip : Just DO NOT click "OK" and wait a bit, it let me load my save and play within less than a minute or so.

Give it a try.
