heavens - isn't there any GOOD news?
Not from me either - despite having a dual processor machine, 4Gb DDR2 memory and a freshly installed Geforce 9400 512 mb with latest driver, the game is unplayable on Windows Seven x64. Footle-pip, I said.
I shall now try it on dear old XP - but that only has Geforce 7600 256mb, so maybe I shall have to swap cards. And does this patch work for UK please? Not 'appy, sulk, and from the negative comments on here I doubt my mood is going to brighten. |
Of course there is good news. I like the game, it's far from perfect, but there is lots of potential. Most sh games need a fair bit of tinkering.
Regarding your preformance issues, you are trying to run a graphics heavy 2010 game on a budget htpc card from 2008. If you realy want to play this game i would suggest one of the 5000 series ATI cards. The min recommended NVIDIA ocard is a 8800 series, both your cards are way below those specs. |
AS McBobbit said, you're trying to run a rather demanding game on absolutely low-end cards that are not meant for performance-hungry games at all. No amount of tweaking will get you decent performance, so your only viable option is, I'm afraid, to upgrade your hardware.

oh chaps - I got the 9400 because I thought it was a later card than the 7600 and 8800 - which is the recommended spec. 9 series, you would expect, is later than 8 series isn't it? What have I done wrong? Is this not the next series?

Mud, that's a useful site. Thank you, bookmarked for future
OK, point taken, I boo-booed. I thought it was a bit cheap on price, and light-weight... So I have to get ANOTHER card, and it is going to cost about Ģ100 from the sound - what would you-who-know about these things recommend? I have always used Nvidia up to now - should I change? |
Hi
If you go with any card in the Nvidia 200-series you'll be "safe".
ATI/Nvidia is a question of personal preference and money of course. Every other year Nvidia/ATI take "turns" on the "who-have-the-fastest-card throne".:salute::ping: |
so would this do?
GEFORCE GTS 250 |
I have used both NVIDIA and ATI cards in the past, both offer good performance for their prices. I'm currently using a GTX 260 and am very happy with it, used an ATI 3870 before than, was happy with that one, too.
IMO the best way for buying a new gfx card is to set yourself a certain budget and then compare cards' performances within that price range via sites like Tom's Hardware etc... EDIT: the 250 series are decent cards, although I'd go for the 260s if your budget allows. Take a look at this chart for comparison: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts...ry-2,1678.html |
yep itīs a personal taste, I always had geforce and bought a new system with a GTS 240.
But in the future I might change to ATI. Mud |
OK, got to go out and set up someone's wireless network now, will see to it when I come back... meanwhile.... anyone want an Nvidia Geforce 9400 card? New, only used once... only Ģ50! (sob)
I joke... |
@ She-Wolf.... Did the game during install say you met all the requirments ?
All boxes Green checked ? |
Good point from Firewall, donīt waste Ģ on a new card if your system canīt run SH5
