Grey bar = Ship damage (health)
Blue bar = Flooding (amount before ship sinks)

Okay so I've just hit a Large Merchant, brought his health down to about 50% and his flooding to about 60% should I surface and finish him off or will he sink eventually (as they tended to do in SHIII)?

Its unknown if the flooding works properly ATM. it doesnt seem to.:nope:
So I would surface and finish him off.

Only time I ever seem to get the blue bar to go away or move on it's own is when the gray one is gone. One torpedo, a few HE shells to the bridge to cut communications and then a few HE/AP to the waterline. I've gotten really good at hitting the propeller on the ships, make it so they've got no engine and you can finish at your leisure.

Helps in those large convoys with escort. Take out the prop on a few, hide and wait until the rest of the convoy moves on and pick off the stragglers.

I've never seen these damage indicators. Are they something turned off at higher realism settings?

This.. evidently current mechanics a ship wont 'sink' untill his hull is at 0%

This one still had about 10% hull. I had watched it burn like this for about 12 time compressed hours before I surfaced and pelted it with the deck gun to sink it

Is there already a mode that makes sinking more realistic ??? ( i hit merchant with two torpedoes on shallow waters , bow is on the bottom already whole ship is burning and i needed about 20 - 30 shells to sink it ) , or othe example ship hit with two torpedoes sails away whole in flames .... I had no idea ubisoft can make such a crap....
