[TEC] How I decreased stuttering, got smoother gameplay,

I found that by setting priority to realtime, I have smoothed out my frame rates a bit, with less stuttering now.

Here's how to adjust it. After launching SH5, press control/alt delete buttons on your keyboard. This minimizes the game. Now click on the Processes tab, and look for SH5. Right click on it and set Set Priority to realtime.

You will need to repeat these steps each time you start SH5. Hope this helps all of you out there who are getting poor frame rates. :arrgh!:

Didn't help with the mouse lag for me. I think it also introduced some kind of sound stuttering :-? it cuts out every 5-10 seconds or so..

Go to your SH5 shortcut...
Open its properties.
on the target line add this before the entry that is there....
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start /realtime ""

Should now look like this. (at work dont have the exact path)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c start /realtime "" "C:\Ubisoft\Sh5\Sh5.exe"

must have the "" after realtime and a space before the next set of quote for this to work, but it will always start SH5 in realtime mode.

wow, setting it to realtime freaked my pc out but high worked well

IT GOT RID OF THE EXPLOSION ISSUES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still testing but thanks!

If you want to do it via shortcut to High just add that to the target instead of Realtime

PortoFerro 03-11-10 05:01 PM

That really makes a big difference for me! :yeah:

flakmonkey 03-11-10 05:27 PM

Hmm, wouldnt set to realtime for me, it popped up a message saying at was set to high instead.

PortoFerro 03-11-10 06:04 PM

same here, but it did the trick. Notice a difference?

stoppro 03-11-10 06:17 PM

will this work the same way with xp 64bit?

vonce1 03-11-10 06:28 PM

I think it made the game smoother .. less mouse lag too. I couldn't set "realtime', it let me set "high" only, still good trick when needed I guess

Vista Ultimate 64-bit here, 8GB RAM, 8800GTX, C2D 2.4GHz

I went to the icon shortcut on my desktop clicked it and then properties. I found the target line but it won't let me edit it at all?

Suggestions?

Actually, the exact shortcut path would be (with quotes):

"C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\sh5.exe" /c start /realtime "" "C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\Sh5.exe"

Thanks for the tip, emtguf. :sunny:
