[TEC] Manual TDC Tutorial Video
Hi I've uploaded a tutorial on Manual TDC for those wishing to learn the next step up from Auto TDC.
This is not at 100% realism so map contacts are displayed But these techniques can still be used for 100% realism. This tutorial shows a solution from over 4000m and a target heading away from the ideal firing position to show just how versatil manual firing can be. Hope you enjoy and find it helpful. :salute: Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZejK46JamFE Better quality Version: http://rapidshare.com/files/36100782...Manual_TDC.wmv http://i3.ytimg.com/vi/ZejK46JamFE/default.jpg |

Thank you so much for this! Few questions, when you're calculating the firing angle, do you want to aim at the part of the ship you used with your protractor? Also, what are those gauges at the bottom right of your screen, and why don't I have them?
|
The gauges are from a mod.Look around in the mods section.:)

Danke Capt.

You hit the target, but your AOB was off. :)

What's that "Bismarck"-song? :D

Hey sir-
Any chance you could upload to mediafire or something? I'm currently in Germany and the 'video is no longer available' as it contains music from Sony Entertainment Co. Thanks! |

The guages are by TheDarkWraith and can be found in the mods section, he has released two versions (Dials them selves very made by briklebritt). Links here: Old style http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163208 New style http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=163268 Well worth installing (Requires JSGME http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=156898) Quote:

Again the method I employed is quick to calculate while you have your target in the scope. While I do trake targets over alonger period and set up there tracks with more percesion. and have my AoB preset for a certain radial that the target will cross over before firing. This is a quick and easy method that works for me over 90% of the time at close and long range. And that for achives more kills than trying to line up numbers with the Auto method (If one could call it auto :hmmm:). Will try to get a new more indepth vid done soon. |
Thanks thats great stuff- This is basically what I have been doing. Although as I do not use map updates, I tend to set up a 90degree intercept , zero my scope and then set the 90degree AOB. Works a treat.
Can you show how to get the AOB without map updates. I am currently using range and bearing estimates to plot the target course over a set time - this gives me the target bearing and speed (3.15 rule) and also provides either a quick AOB or route to a 90degree intercept position. Would be nice to see though so I know I am doing it right (That said I must be as I am getting positive results :DL) Also I would love to see a sonar only attack if anyone can?- I remember seeing a great one for SH4. Thanks Again |

Yes thats pretty much what I do as well using sonar contacts to plot a rough path that the target is travelling untill its in visuall range, then using the stadimeter to get range and we have the bearing of the target from the sonar. Its just a matter of using the drawing tools to mark out the distance on the map along that bearing. Aslo during this I take the reading's every 3m15s to get the speed. |
Please, someone can explane me the "3.15 rule"?????
