I've just played through the initial tutorial mission and I've docked, however what do I do now? I have just been asked to speak with my new first mate (who is standing in the conning tower but for the life of me I can't see how to speak with him! I can't even see what I'm meant to do next.

Can anyone help?

Yep, and you'll access the missions selection screen, with a sum up of the war situation!

Now how do I chart a way through the Keil Cannal?

There is no easy way.

Make sure you put to sea before you try, though. Any course plotting you do on the mission briefing screen will disappear the moment you embark, so any time you spend laboriously charting a course through the canal will have been wasted.
