Crush Depth = ouch

So as a test I hopped in a quick mission and decided to do the dive to the bottom!

Around 140m the creaking started. At 170 is was worrisome. I got down to 200m and dropped to 1kt. Not surprisingly the depth bug hit and I just kept sinking.

As I plummeted since my boat couldn't stay at a depth, I talked to my Cheif and had him put up all his slow down flooding, increase repair abilities and whatever else he could do. I was all excited for rivets to pop and flood water to start filling the control room and light bulbs to burst!

Instead... I got to 240m and things faded to black. I was dead. Basically just popped like a ballon instantly before any visual or otherwise feedback. Just a spam in the message log a cut off 'We're too dee---' then black.

Kinda disappointing this new all or nothing damage system. :(

Talk about crush depth dummies!.....lol

Sorry, had to laugh. Felt pity for your crew though following your orders all the way to davy jones' locker like that!! loyal to the end eh.....:dead:

Must admit I'd have liked to have seen a few popping light bulbs, water rushing in etc.... wonder if that can be modded or added in a patch later?.

Hey, at least you can get the game to work, I've got graphics card issues and can't get it to work at all.......

i was playing online last night, i had upgraded my crush depth to the max and had the best uboat (cant remember what its called) but i managed to dive to 263m before i bottled it, everything was fine, only creaking (do the lights still blow?). i think if u take your time and dive slowly the hull take the pressure.

Historically, and in real life, going below crush depth means the sub will implode, which is instant death and you're compressed with the inside of the sub like crushing a tin can.

To be realistic, when crush depth happens, you should hear a huge explosion as the sub implodes with the screen turning red and black in one second, and you're dead.

There should be gradual damage, but when the crush happens, it's over in one second or so.

Thats pretty funny actually...

A 'sudden' death at that depth is not beyond the realm of possibility. It hit you so fast you dident even have a chance to blink ;)
