Sorry for the short outage, FYI here

Yep, even though I added a second server in a virutal rack in Jan, we have attratec so many folks we are maxing out.

Never fear, I just set up a server migration with the Planet, moving the fourm and downloads to a new Dual Xeon 5520.

Thanks for your patience.

Longest 15 minutes of my life.

Hope everything works out with the servers. Must be crazy right about now.

Decoman 03-06-10 02:30 PM

It is nice to see competent people are working on the forums. :yep:

Runnybabbit 03-06-10 02:33 PM

Thanks!

Your efforts for us all are appreciated, and it's even nicer that you took the trouble to explain... Service indeed!:salute:

If only a certain giant French conglomerate could be as efficient as one dude from Texas... *sigh*:hmmm:

Good work!

Ships-R-Us 03-06-10 02:41 PM

This is not a complaint, but I'm curious to know if anyone else is experience slow and sluggish site performance.

Noren 03-06-10 02:42 PM

Its nice to Neal working as diligently as the best french baguettebakers.

Yes, thats a compliment (few bakers love their trade so much as french baguettemakers who start at 4am to prepare the dough).

Onkel Neal 03-06-10 02:43 PM

I'm having the entire site backed up and then later we will take the old server down for a spell. We will then bring it back up for the migration, and maybe one more short outage and then we should be running on a server that is 108% faster with 12GB RAM.

Ships-R-Us 03-06-10 02:59 PM

This obviously is costing you a barrel of money, but when normal site activity returns from the "SH5 hyperactivity". will you have overspent?...........Kind of like driving the city bus all day with 2 passengers.

I only say one thing. Donate
It's been awhile since I've done it. Time to do it again.

rededge 03-06-10 03:19 PM

Yea, this is a brill site!

Thanks Neal for your efforts (and patience )

I bought SHV through the site, hopefully it all adds up!

Yep, I did it yesterday. :yep:

(when I think about how useful is this site, it's not really expensive for me).

Keep up your good work Neal.:salute:

Onkel Neal 03-06-10 03:50 PM

Thanks all for your understanding.

Yes, I am not doing this by myself, I am hiring an experienced server company to do the actual work. The days of Onkel Neal doing the actual work and learning as he goes, causing 12 hour outages while 50 people are waiting to get back in the forums, are long gone :shucks:

The work is scheduled to start after Monday, so bear with us if the forums seem slow for a couple days.

SteamWake 03-06-10 04:51 PM

Thanks for your efforts :salute:
