A million battleships... two craft smaller than a destroyer. KEEP THE QUALITY COMIN' UBI.

Based on the types of merchants included tonnage scores will be too high. The Liberty, Victory, and Cimarron were very large merchants for their time; the C-1 and C-2 were quite big too. In real life, even oceangoing convoys would sometimes have few ships over 6,000 GRT. Coastal convoys often had nothing but merchants of 500 - 2,000 GRT.

Yeah. I'm surprised at that actually since SHIV did a much better job in that regard - they didn't have "sea trucks" but they did include a few good classes of small merchant/transport ships of lower tonnage. Here the tonnage range is definitely more in the vein of SHIII's defaults or even higher. When I play, I just try to put it down to wartime over-claims.
Frederf: not sure what your particular beef is there. It's been mostly the same in the previous two SH games and frankly escort-wise, the list is pretty adequate if not in any way impressive. The merchant list however could use a bit of beefing up, and I would have rather seen more of those than battleships. |
I don't understand :06: did they add some new ships in the patch ?

Negative, the Torpedo Bomber gotta be a Brewster Type Torpedo Bomber. http://www.wwiivehicles.com/usa/airc...da-mk-i-01.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1401/...e552343041.jpg Brewster SB2A Buccaneer1 Brewster SB2A-2 Buccaneer1 Type Naval or land based reconnaissance bomber1 Crew 21 Engine (Type) Wright R-2600-8 Double Cyclone1 Cylinders Radial 141 Cooling HP 1,7001 Propeller blades 31 Dimensions Span 47'1 14.32 m1 Length 39' 2"1 11.94 m1 Height 15' 5"1 6.7 m1 Wing area Weight Empty 9,924 lb1 4,502 kg1 Maximum load 14,289 lb1 6,481 kg1 Performance Speed @ sea level 259 mph1 417 kph1 Speed @ 12,000' 3,658 m 274 mph1 441 kph1 Cruising speed 161 mph1 259 kph1 Climb 2,080'/minute1 634 m/minute1 Service ceiling 24,900'1 7,590 m1 Range 1,675 miles1 2,695 km1 Armament Wings 2: 0.3" MG1 Nose 2: 0.5" MG1 Rear dorsal turret 2: 0.3" MG1 Bombs 1,000 lb1 454 kg1 |

A quick look in the museum shows the Brits have 2 tanker types and 6 merchant types. Sure they do look good, but there's just not enough of 'em. I was hoping for at least double these numbers. |
It's an inevitable consequence of appealing to a mass-market that neither knows nor cares what the reality was when it comes to the stats on the GRT of ships sunk by U-boats in WWII.
Plus there's the pressure of racking up big scores in the mission system. It shouldn't surprise anyone. SH3 was the same. |

The planes are a Beech to look at but looking on how the Panelm lines are under the wings of said "torpedo Bomber", i figuted it had to be the Brewster type. Would love to hear from the responsible creators if i am right tho... looking at the "catalina" gives me the heebyjeebies.:haha: |
"Heavy Bomber” – a cross between a Boeing B-17 "Flying Fortress" and a Consolidated B-24D"
Dont tell me this means the 2 bombers are merged into one plane in 3-d right? |
Unfortunately.... Yes...
They ask "American Choppers" for this custom plane :03: (I think there is a pic in our "screenshot thread....) Andreas |
