Carryover from SHIII/IV, innit :hmmm:

It never bothered me because from sea level, they usually look fine. However it would be great if we could replace them with groups of smaller trees on the same sprite...

Also, they look like cardboard cut-outs... :)

capthelm 03-01-10 03:02 AM

look good enough from a distance.

Looks ok from the sub so far, never noticed the trees were so large until I saw the screenshot.

I love how some of them are bigger than the cranes, lol.

They're not only a bit too large, they also seem to be the wrong type of tree... a bit too many firs and pines that look half dead. There should be more greener round deciduous trees.

From what I've seen the world is divided into different areas of vegetation with different types of trees and different seasons too. You can assign different textures to the tree models, change the vegetation type for specific areas and stuff.

So tweaking that should be relatively straight forward. It's seems to be all under Data\Terrain\Textures_And_Vegetation.

Also I think that screenshot was taken in the fall, so maybe that's why they don't look so green.

Fair enough, but christmas trees shouldn't turn brown :O:

I'd get right onto changing it if I had the game...

This is a Sub sim not a squirrel sim.

Actually :) , there are about 8 types of vegetation. However their placement is not 100% correct because we need a lot more types if you want to see some diversity, so some types of vegetation are used in the wrong climate area just to show more diversity.

If I ever figure out a way to walk around outside of the dock then I will be happy when this is corrected.

Now that would be a mod there.

I have noticed an annoying tendency for you to dimiss any attempt to improve upon what is shaping up to be a pretty shoddy product, but this line was damn funny.

Feel free to post some evidence to support this ridiculous claim.

This post raised my hackles this morning : http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...6&postcount=10
But in retrospect, I found others in which you were helpful and courteous, and so I apologise and withdraw my ridiculous claim.
