Does it ever STOP raining?
Its day 14 of a rainstorm now, and I've gone from the resupply ship in Spain to DT53 with visibility being about 50 feet, and heavy heavy waves making deck gun impossible. Its frigging august, not december, and its the mid atlantic, not the north sea!

What tc do you normally use ?

Not sure what TC stands for, but I'm using grey wolves and SH3commander

Oh, i go as far a 4096. Why, does that make a difference?

Based on the experiences of others as reported here, IIRC using high TC can make the game's weather get stuck or change less frequently relative to date/time in-game. It may be that the in-game weather is linked more to actual playing time elapsed than how much time is passing on your virtual uboat while you're running at a high TC. Just a guess, but for whatever reason there does seem to be a correlation for some people to high TC and lack of variety in the weather.

The vicious irony here is that it almost seems like a no-brainer, after days and days of rain, to crank up the TC and try to outrun the bad weather more quickly... and all you get is more days and days of rain.
Based on what I've read here I am really hesitant to go above 128 in any area where I'm expecting (or hoping) to have enemy contacts anyway. I will still crank it all the way up (which for me is 1024) if I'm on the way out to or back in from a patrol, and in relatively friendly waters... altho even that's risky and I only do it in short spurts. |
I thought, I've read that the weather is on countdown timer, and it resets when you load a save. So, if you are doing a lot of reloading, or playing in short sessions, the weather appears to get stuck, because you are constantly resetting the invisible timer.

That is kind of how it works Frau Kaleun. The timer is set to something like three in game days and when ever the game is loaded the counter starts on day one. So if you sail for two days and twnety-three hours, save and then reload the game your counter will back down to day one. Not so much real world elapsed time but actual ingame time. The high TC problem is the game failing to make proper checks of the weather program, or so I understand; simularl to the problems with finding contacts at high TC. Seems like a bad way to program the game if you ask me.
All in all the game's TC system isn't at all well designed in this game if you ask me. Not that I could do any better though. |
